    Abstract: Temperature readings obtained within a computer system from the location of monitored circuit elements may be oversampled at least three times, and a median average of the three parameter readings rather than the arithmetic mean may be used for controlling a device, e.g. a fan, configured to regulate the environmental parameter, e.g. temperature, a the location of the monitored circuit elements. For example, when a CPU temperature reading is requested by the system comprising the CPU, a thermal monitoring system may acquire at least three consecutive temperature readings of the CPU, discard the highest temperature reading and the lowest temperature reading, and return the median reading to be used in controlling a fan configured to regulate temperature at the location of the CPU, resulting in more accurate temperature readings and more accurate fan control.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus dynamically store data associated with supply chain events for a manufactured assembly to enhance lifecycle management of the assembly. The supply chain events for the manufactured assembly are stored on an RFID tag attached to the assembly as it travels through the supply chain to insure the data concerning the assembly is readily available and not separated from the assembly. The supply chain events or characteristic data may be stored on the RFID tag in a hierarchical structure beginning with the original state of the assembly and with additional entries for each step in the assembly process. In addition, as the product undergoes rework, conversion to a different assembly, or personalization, the new state of the assembly is stored in the RFID tag. Other information that may be stored on the RFID tag includes country of origin, failure data, cycle times and a quality status parameter.

    Abstract: A photoresist system is disclosed. A graphical user interface of the system allows an operator to initiate a bottle switching operation, among other operations. Barcode data of a photoresist bottle is obtained by an equipment server from a controller. Photoresist data relating to the bottle is obtained by the equipment server from a database through a constraint server. The equipment server, preferably with assistance from the constraint server, determines whether the bottle contains appropriate photoresist for the semiconductor processing to be performed on semiconductor wafers. If the bottle contains appropriate photoresist, the equipment server, through the constraint server, stores the expiration date of the bottle and the batch identifier of the bottle, as indicated by the barcode data, in the database. If the bottle contains inappropriate photoresist, then the system acts to prevent the semiconductor processing of the semiconductor wafers with the inappropriate photoresist contained in the bottle.

An assessment predicting unit outputs the results of an assessment of a package in which an assessment expression has already been established, by using the assessment expression.

    Abstract: A cabin pressure control system and method that reduces or inhibits gear train backlash and the concomitant cabin pressure oscillations associated therewith. The cabin pressure control system includes a variable proportional-integral (PI) controller that implements a proportional function with a variable gain term and an integrator function with variable saturation limit. The proportional function gain term is increased, and the integrator saturation limits are decreased, at relatively low cabin error rate magnitudes. Increasing the proportional function gain term at relatively low cabin error rate magnitudes offsets potential backlash effects from the gear train. Decreasing the integrator saturation limits at relatively low cabin rate error magnitudes reduces potentially excessive integrator wind-up levels, which reduces the likelihood of producing limit-cycling and the potential for cabin pressure oscillations.

    Abstract: A method for auto-calibration of at least one tool (36) in a single point turning machine (10) used for manufacturing in particular ophthalmic lenses (L) is proposed, in which a test piece of special, predetermined geometry is cut with the tool and then probed to obtain probe data. The method subsequently uses the probe data to mathematically and deterministically identify the necessary tool/machine calibration corrections in two directions (X, Y) and three directions (X, Y, Z), respectively, of the machine. Finally these corrections can be applied numerically to all controllable and/or adjustable axes (B, F1, X, Y) of the machine in order to achieve a (global) tool/machine calibration applicable to all work pieces within the machines operating range. As a result two-dimensional (2D) tool/machine calibration and three-dimensional (3D) tool/machine calibration, respectively, can be performed in a reliable and economic manner.
