  • Patent number: 7991514
Abstract: Temperature readings obtained within a computer system from the location of monitored circuit elements may be oversampled at least three times, and a median average of the three parameter readings rather than the arithmetic mean may be used for controlling a device, e.g. a fan, configured to regulate the environmental parameter, e.g. temperature, a the location of the monitored circuit elements. For example, when a CPU temperature reading is requested by the system comprising the CPU, a thermal monitoring system may acquire at least three consecutive temperature readings of the CPU, discard the highest temperature reading and the lowest temperature reading, and return the median reading to be used in controlling a fan configured to regulate temperature at the location of the CPU, resulting in more accurate temperature readings and more accurate fan control.

  • Patent number: 7493181
Abstract: A method and apparatus dynamically store data associated with supply chain events for a manufactured assembly to enhance lifecycle management of the assembly. The supply chain events for the manufactured assembly are stored on an RFID tag attached to the assembly as it travels through the supply chain to insure the data concerning the assembly is readily available and not separated from the assembly. The supply chain events or characteristic data may be stored on the RFID tag in a hierarchical structure beginning with the original state of the assembly and with additional entries for each step in the assembly process. In addition, as the product undergoes rework, conversion to a different assembly, or personalization, the new state of the assembly is stored in the RFID tag. Other information that may be stored on the RFID tag includes country of origin, failure data, cycle times and a quality status parameter.

  • Patent number: 7477959
Abstract: A photoresist system is disclosed. A graphical user interface of the system allows an operator to initiate a bottle switching operation, among other operations. Barcode data of a photoresist bottle is obtained by an equipment server from a controller. Photoresist data relating to the bottle is obtained by the equipment server from a database through a constraint server. The equipment server, preferably with assistance from the constraint server, determines whether the bottle contains appropriate photoresist for the semiconductor processing to be performed on semiconductor wafers. If the bottle contains appropriate photoresist, the equipment server, through the constraint server, stores the expiration date of the bottle and the batch identifier of the bottle, as indicated by the barcode data, in the database. If the bottle contains inappropriate photoresist, then the system acts to prevent the semiconductor processing of the semiconductor wafers with the inappropriate photoresist contained in the bottle.

  • Patent number: 7467076
Abstract: Reliability of an electronic package is predicted based on material type, shape and dimensions of the package and conditions for assessment thereof, and a modeling unit creates a simulation model based thereon. An executing unit uses the simulation model to execute a simulation under designated conditions and results of the simulation are stored in a database. The stored simulation is assessed according to the assessment criteria and the assessment results are stored in a database. A generating unit generates, as an assessment expression, an approximate expression which infers the results of assessment from the inputted parameters, on the assumption that a predetermined amount of results of assessment is preserved. An assessment predicting unit outputs the results of an assessment of a package in which an assessment expression has already been established, by using the assessment expression.

  • Patent number: 7463940
Abstract: A system and method for modeling industrial processes is described. One embodiment includes collecting a plurality of flowsheets, which include corresponding groups of unit models and combining the plurality of flowsheets to create a combined model. In addition, a first macro associated with a first flowsheet is initiated and other macros by the same name as the first macro are automatically executed. In variations, the other macros are executed from a lowest hierarchical level flowsheet relative to the first flowsheet to a higher hierarchical level until the first macro is run.

  • Patent number: 7454254
Abstract: A cabin pressure control system and method that reduces or inhibits gear train backlash and the concomitant cabin pressure oscillations associated therewith. The cabin pressure control system includes a variable proportional-integral (PI) controller that implements a proportional function with a variable gain term and an integrator function with variable saturation limit. The proportional function gain term is increased, and the integrator saturation limits are decreased, at relatively low cabin error rate magnitudes. Increasing the proportional function gain term at relatively low cabin error rate magnitudes offsets potential backlash effects from the gear train. Decreasing the integrator saturation limits at relatively low cabin rate error magnitudes reduces potentially excessive integrator wind-up levels, which reduces the likelihood of producing limit-cycling and the potential for cabin pressure oscillations.

  • Patent number: 7451070
Abstract: Sample-count feedback from bus functional models and a binary convergence algorithm are to generate optimal sampling values for an accelerator, or hardware assisted simulator. The simulator includes a bus functional model and a driver program. A software readable register maintains a count of a number of samples provided the simulator in execution of a transaction on the bus functional model. For each supported bus functional model, a sample count retrieved from the bus functional model and a last sampling value given the hardware assisted simulator is maintained, and a binary convergence algorithm applied to generate sampling values based on the last sampling value given to the hardware assisted simulator and the last actual sampling value used by a given bus functional model for a transaction.

  • Patent number: 7447561
Abstract: A display apparatus for an injection molding machine which permits setting items unalterable during operation of the injection molding machine to be identified on the screen. When the injection molding machine is not in operation, the setting items on the screen are shown in a normal first display appearance. During operation of the machine, unalterable setting items, among the setting items on the screen, are shown in a second display appearance to be distinguished from the first display appearance. Since setting items that are normally alterable but should not be altered during operation of the injection molding machine are displayed in the second display appearance in a distinguishable manner, such setting items can be clearly identified, thus improving operability.

  • Patent number: 7447620
Abstract: Asynchronous behavior of a circuit is emulated by modifying a netlist to insert additional logic at a driving element such as a latch. The additional logic outputs one of (i) a present output from the driving element, (ii) a delayed output from the driving element, or (iii) a random value, which drives downstream logic. The output of the additional logic is selectively responsive to a user-controlled skew enable input. The invention allows for simpler data skew logic transformations which are applicable to both latches and primary inputs, with no dependencies on any clock net.

  • Patent number: 7440814
Abstract: A method for auto-calibration of at least one tool (36) in a single point turning machine (10) used for manufacturing in particular ophthalmic lenses (L) is proposed, in which a test piece of special, predetermined geometry is cut with the tool and then probed to obtain probe data. The method subsequently uses the probe data to mathematically and deterministically identify the necessary tool/machine calibration corrections in two directions (X, Y) and three directions (X, Y, Z), respectively, of the machine. Finally these corrections can be applied numerically to all controllable and/or adjustable axes (B, F1, X, Y) of the machine in order to achieve a (global) tool/machine calibration applicable to all work pieces within the machines operating range. As a result two-dimensional (2D) tool/machine calibration and three-dimensional (3D) tool/machine calibration, respectively, can be performed in a reliable and economic manner.

  • Patent number: 7437283
Abstract: In an evaluation system for evaluating a target board produced for use with a microprocessor, an evaluation microcomputer is connected between the target board and an evaluation tool. In the evaluation microcomputer: an emulation circuit emulates functions of the microprocessor, and supplies an emulation result to the evaluation tool through an interface circuit; the interface circuit interfaces the emulation circuit with the evaluation tool; and a data storing circuit stores data relating to the microprocessor. The emulation circuit and the interface circuit are powered by the target board, and the data storing circuit is powered by the evaluation tool. Alternatively, when the interface circuit further has the function of the data storing circuit, the interface circuit is powered by the evaluation tool.
