  • Patent number: 8496629
Abstract: A peripheral catheter having a catheter tip diffuser for reducing an exit velocity of an infusant within the catheter. Pluralities of diffusion side holes are provided on the tip portion of the catheter. Some examples further include pluralities of annularly arranged, staggered diffusion holes provided on the tip portion of an intravenous catheter to streamline infusant issued from the diffusion holes. An inner surface of each diffusion hole is further angled relative to the inner surface of the catheter lumen such that an infusant within the lumen exits the catheter though the diffusion holes at an angle less than 90°.

  • Patent number: 8499045
Abstract: Embodiments of the systems and methods described herein facilitate the transmitting, receiving, and processing of encoded messages wherein the header fields in the message header are protected. In one embodiment, the contents of the header fields to be protected are inserted into the message body as one or more additional lines of text, for example, prior to encoding and transmitting the message to a message recipient. Upon receipt of the message, the message recipient processes the encoded message such that the contents of the protected header fields can be extracted from the message body. Accordingly, by inserting the contents of the header fields to be protected into the message body, the header fields may be protected using existing standards and protocols for facilitating secure message communication.

  • Patent number: 8498397
Abstract: Provided is a method for handling telephone calls directed to a telephony connection associated with a plurality of telephone numbers, wherein incoming calls made to the plurality of telephone numbers are announced by different ring tones. The method comprises receiving over the telephony connection a signal carrying ring tone information indicative of an incoming call. The method further comprises processing the ring tone information to differentiate the ring tone currently conveyed in the telephony connection from other possible ring tones that the telephony connection can carry. The method still further comprises handling the incoming call on the basis of the differentiated ring tone. Also provided are a telephone system and a computer readable storage medium holding a program element.

  • Publication number: 20130187521
Abstract: An enclosure for enclosing a flat panel display. A bezel includes a peripheral surface defining an enclosure area and an inner edge defining a display opening. A substantially transparent front cover operatively connects to the bezel and covers the display opening. An enclosure housing includes a front opening and an access opening substantially opposite the front opening. An access opening cover is configured to cover the access opening. A sealing member receiving region is defined by one of the enclosure housing and the access opening cover, and a sealing member is operatively connected to the sealing member receiving region. When the access opening cover is operatively connected to the enclosure housing, an interface between the enclosure housing and the access opening cover is substantially sealed and is resistant to liquid ingress.

  • Publication number: 20130188452
Abstract: A method of determining a physical property of subsurface strata surrounding a borehole. The physical property includes any one or more of stress, strain of fluid pressure of the subsurface strata. The borehole includes a borehole liner having an interior wall. A pair of sensor modules separated by a known distance are clamped to the interior wall of the borehole liner. The clamping induces an acoustic discontinuity in the borehole liner such that a P-wave propagating longitudinally within the borehole liner is at least partially reflected. A respective sensor of each sensor module detecting P-waves propagating in the liner and generating a corresponding sensor output signal indicative of the detected P-waves. A respective sensor output signal from each sensor module is analyzed to detect a resonance in a section of the borehole liner between the sensors. A fundamental frequency of the detected resonance is determined and analyzed to determine the physical property.

  • Publication number: 20130191649
Abstract: A method and circuit arrangement selectively stream data to an encryption or compression engine based upon encryption and/or compression-related page attributes stored in a memory address translation data structure such as an Effective To Real Translation (ERAT) or Translation Lookaside Buffer (TLB). A memory address translation data structure may be accessed, for example, in connection with a memory access request for data in a memory page, such that attributes associated with the memory page in the data structure may be used to control whether data is encrypted/decrypted and/or compressed/decompressed in association with handling the memory access request.

  • Publication number: 20130188886
Abstract: A system and method of identifying objects is provided. In one aspect, the system and method includes a hand-held device with a display, camera and processor. As the camera captures images and displays them on the display, the processor compares the information retrieved in connection with one image with information retrieved in connection with subsequent images. The processor uses the result of such comparison to determine the object that is likely to be of greatest interest to the user. The display simultaneously displays the images the images as they are captured, the location of the object in an image, and information retrieved for the object.

  • Publication number: 20130189657
Abstract: A simulator facilitating virtual welding activity. The simulator may include a logic processor based subsystem operable to generate an interactive welding environment in virtual reality space that emulates welding activity by simulating a virtual weld puddle having dynamic, real time molten metal fluidity and heat dissipation characteristics, responsive to performing a simulated welding activity in real time. The simulator may include a foot pedal device in operative communication with the logic processor based subsystem and configured to affect a characteristic of the virtual weld puddle in real time, responsive to user control of the foot pedal device. The simulator may be configured to track the movements of a mock welding tool and a mock filler wire and determine interaction between the virtual weld puddle, a corresponding virtual welding tool, and a corresponding filler wire in virtual reality space that would result in the welding tool becoming contaminated.
