Abstract: Systems and methods for distributing computing tasks are disclosed. One system includes a first computing system and a second computing system. The first computing system includes a processing unit and a memory, the memory storing a computer-executable workload including a plurality of procedures including at leas one distributable procedure, the at least one distributable procedures capable of execution independent of underlying operating system or platform resources of the first computing system and configured for execution on an architecture of the first computing system. The system further includes a distributable computation unit executable on a second computing system, the distributable computation unit including the at least one distributable procedure, a state of computing resources of the first computing system, and an application capable of execution on the second computing system to perform the at least one distributable procedure.

Abstract: Various embodiments may be generally directed to techniques and an apparatus including a network interface, processing circuitry coupled with the network interface, and one or more modules operable on the processing circuitry to receive historical rate information and historical reputation information for one or more products, generate a plurality of rate indices from the historical rate information for one or more products, each of the rate indices associated with a different lead time, and determine a rate index from the plurality of rate indices associated with an optimal lead time based on a maximum correlation between the rate index and a reputation index, the reputation index based on the historical reputation information for the one or more products.

Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling parameters of a MEMS microphone. The microphone system includes a MEMS microphone and a controller. The MEMS microphone includes a movable electrode, a stationary electrode, and a driven electrode. The movable electrode has a first side and a second side that is opposite the first side. The movable electrode is configured such that acoustic pressures acting on the first side and the second of the movable electrode cause movement of the movable electrode. The stationary electrode is positioned on the first side of the movable electrode. The driven electrode is configured to receive a control signal and alter a parameter of the MEMS microphone based on the control signal. The controller is configured to determine a voltage difference between the movable electrode and the stationary electrode. The controller is also configured to generate the control signal based on the voltage difference.

Abstract: In a handheld communication device capable of a plurality of wireless communication modes, a method of communication begins by receiving, at the handheld communication device, a notification of an available one of the wireless communication modes. Then, in a data communication window of the communication device, a user-indication of an active one of the available wireless communication modes is provided in accordance with the received communication mode indication. The data communication window is configured to facilitate data communication via the plurality of wireless communication modes, and facilitates the data communication via the active wireless communication mode.

Abstract: Systems and methods for managing input/output operations of a first computing system at a second computing system are disclosed. One method includes receiving an input/output control block at a distributed input/output processor separate from a first computing system, the input/output control block built by the first computing system in response to initiation of an input/output operation at the first computing system. The method also includes enqueueing an input/output operation at the distributed input/output processor, and processing, by the distributed input/output processor, the input/output operation from memory of the first computing system. The method includes returning results from the distributed input/output processor to the first computing system.

Abstract: A system, method, and apparatus are provided for distributing a content item toward target recipients solely via first degree connections (e.g., in a professional network, in a social network). For a selected content item and identified target recipients of the item, when a user initiates a message to forward or otherwise convey the content item, one or more schemes are applied to select and automatically populate the message with suitable addressees. In one scheme, values are computed for each neighbor of the sender, to indicate the value of delivering the item to that neighbor; the message is automatically addressed to the highest-value neighbors. In another scheme, user communities that encompass the target recipients are identified and the message is automatically addressed to neighbors that are best able to disseminate the item throughout a community. In another scheme a minimal set of neighbors having connections to all target recipients is identified.

Abstract: A scrollable container view renders hierarchically arranged layouts. Container items are only created and rendered to cover a view port on a user interface display screen, along with a buffer on each side of the view port. As the user pans or scrolls through the container, additional user interface items for the container are dynamically created and rendered.

The input device also includes a connection portion that is physically attached the mid-spine and is configured to form a removable physical coupling to be secured to a second side of the computing device that is different than the first side and form a communicative coupling to the computing device to communicate the generated signals from the input portion.

Abstract: The invention generally relates to the field of insect inhibitory toxin proteins. A novel class of proteins exhibiting insect inhibitory activity against agriculturally relevant pests of crop plants and seeds are disclosed. Insecticidal activity is particularly effective against the Coleopteran order of insect pests. Plants, plant parts, and seed are provided containing a polynucleotide construct encoding one or more of the toxin proteins disclosed herein. The proteins are referred to herein variously as the TIC2463-related toxin protein class or family, the TIC2463-related toxin proteins, the TIC2463-related protein genus, toxin proteins related to the TIC2463 toxin protein, proteins related to TIC2463, TIC2463-related toxin polypeptides, TIC2463-related pesticidal proteins, and the like.

A channel extends across at least a portion of the sole, and includes a trough defined between front and rear edges and extending in a heel-toe direction. The body further includes a spacing portion that forms a generally flattened surface extending from the front edge to proximate the outer periphery of the face. The rear edge of the channel is spaced rearwardly a different distance from the outer periphery of the face at the center portion of the channel as compared to the heel portion and/or the toe portion. One or more stiffening ribs may also be provided rearwardly of the channel, to increase the stiffness of the sole.

Abstract: A method of making a high-aspect-ratio imprinted structure includes providing a substrate, forming a first layer on the substrate, imprinting a plurality of micro-channels in the first layer, and curing the first layer. Each micro-channel has a bottom and walls, the micro-channel bottom having distinct first and second portions. A material is deposited on the first layer and in each micro-channel and anisotropically etched to remove the deposited material from the first layer and the second portion of the micro-channel bottom, leaving the deposited material on the micro-channel walls. A filler material is located in the micro-channels between the deposited materials and on only the second portion of the micro-channel bottom and cured.

The workspace stores the presentation content and additional content and storing one or more access policies and being associated with a first user. The system comprises a processor for executing one or more modules comprising a content creation and updating module configured to enable an updating of the presentation content and the additional content according to the one or more access policies; and a content access interface module configured to determine one or more portions of the presentation content and the additional content for accessing at the audience device according to the one or more access policies. A method for providing an interactive media presentation is also provided.
