  • Patent number: 7888192
Abstract: A method is disclosed for forming an integrated circuit including a common gate FinFET device and a split gate FinFET device. Taller fins and shorter fins of different heights are formed in a semiconductor surface. Layers of gate dielectric material and gate electrode material are formed over tops and sides of the fins. The gate electrode material layer is planarized using chemical-mechanical polishing to remove the gate electrode material from the tops of the taller fins, leaving the gate electrode material over the tops of the shorter fins. The planarized material is patterned to form split (dual) gate structures on the sides of the taller fins and common gate structures on the tops and sides of the shorter fins.

  • Patent number: 7888831
Abstract: A rotor structure for a motor comprising a rotor having an end surface; a shaft extending from the end surface; an encoder member attached to the end surface of the rotor; and a coupler coupled to the shaft adjacent to the encoder member for coupling a further member to the shaft, in which the coupler surrounds the shaft and has a lip associated therewith, the lip extending from the coupler towards the encoder member so as to define a void between the coupler and the encoder member. The void defined by the rotor structure may act to contain matters such as swarf that is ejected from the rotor when the encoder member is fixed to the rotor. The rotor may be used in a motor of an electric power assisted steering (EPAS) system.

  • Patent number: 7888837
Abstract: A rotor for a generator includes a cylindrical rotor body with axial winding slots which are arranged in a distributed manner over the circumference and in which are arranged conductor elements which extend in the axial direction. A cooling medium from a sub-slot which is arranged at the bottom of the winding slot is fed along the axis in periodic intervals to the conductor elements. Beneath the conductor elements provision is made for ripple springs which in each case press the conductor elements of a winding slot against a slot wedge which closes off the winding slot at the top. With such a rotor, an adequate spring force is achieved by the ripple springs being arranged at the bottom of the sub-slot and, via an axial profile which is arranged in the sub-slot, acting by their spring force upon the conductor elements which lie above them.

  • Patent number: 7890710
Abstract: A system and method for managing an electronic storage volume is described. The method includes assigning a threshold to a constrained storage space to define a first state in which an amount of data stored in the constrained storage space exceeds the threshold and a second state in which the amount of data stored in the confined storage space does not exceed the threshold. The method also includes comparing the amount of data to be stored in the constrained storage space and the threshold, and performing a predefined action if the comparison indicates that the amount data to be in the confined storage space would cause a transition between the first state and the second state.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for maintaining optical energy density on a defined area of a medium markable by optical energy. The method includes the operation of directing a light beam from a light source to an optical system. The light beam can pass through at least one optical component in the optical system, where the optical system has astigmatic properties selected to maintain desired irradiance within the defined area of the medium through a range of working distances between the optical system and the defined area. A further operation is guiding the light beam by the optical system onto the marking area of the medium.

  • Patent number: 7890604
Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for client-side callbacks to server events in which a Web server receives a message indicating a client-side event. The client-side event is associated with a specific component of a client resource, the specific component being one of multiple static components of the client resource. A server-side component generates a response to the received message and implements at least a subset of logic of the specific component. In generating the response to the message, server-side logic corresponding to other static components that are different than the specific component are not used.

  • Patent number: 7887534
Abstract: An electrosurgical system comprising, among other things, a control console to which detachably connects one or more electrosurgical probes capable of coagulating and ablating tissue. The control console generates a selectively variable power signal having a duty cycle that is dynamically modulated so as to maintain an average power level of a probe that is lower than a predefined maximum power level. The system can also incorporate both an impedance monitoring system and a current monitoring system as means to detect potentially dangerous situations, as well as a monitoring system for detecting impedance at relatively low power levels upon first activation of the probe. The probe can also incorporate non-volatile memory for storing probe-specific operating parameter data, probe usage data, data restricting probe use, error codes, and control console updates.

  • Patent number: 7890622
Abstract: Real-time notification is provided of an event which has occurred in a computer-related device. Upon the occurrence of an event, a record of the event is stored in a buffer, such as a Really Simple Syndication buffer, associated with the device. The buffer is updated based on indications and other events noted by a CIM agent in the device. One of a series of regular requests is received from an open browser window on a user computer, the request inquiring about any record of the event stored in the buffer. In response to the request, the record of the event is transmitted to an HTML event element in a page of the browser window whereby the record of the event is inserted into the HTML element and displayed in the browser window.

  • Patent number: 7891001
Abstract: An in-network security provider applies security event identification, analysis and processing to a customer's data communications traffic in the form of a “security in the cloud” solution. This method of network defense is achieved when customers pass all of their outbound data communications traffic through the security provider before that data communications traffic reaches the public Internet. Additionally, all inbound data communications traffic is passed through the security provider before it is delivered to the customer. The security provider receives the inbound and outbound sequence of data packets and segregates the sequence of data packets into respective packet flows based on data packet types (HTML, SMTP, FTP, etc.). For individual respective packet flows, the system applies security processing that is appropriate to those packet flows based on that packet flow's data packet type.
