  • Patent number: 10214841
Abstract: A needle inserter comprising an elongated handle having a first end portion and a second end portion, a releasable support at the first end portion and an elongated element extending perpendicularly from the first end portion and includes a perpendicular extending distal end. The needle inserter operates such that an embroidery needle is supported on the needle inserter by the releasable support and by the distal end. The needle inserter further operates to allow a user to hold the needle inserter to move the embroidery needle such that the embroidery needle engages with the retaining member such that the embroidery needle is retained in its proper orientation and alignment and to allow the user to move the needle inserter such that the embroidery needle disengages from the needle inserter.

  • Patent number: 10215714
Abstract: Method and system for detecting defects on surface of object are presented. An imaging device captures images of surface of object under ambient and dark field illumination conditions. The images are processed with a plurality of image operations to detect area of potential defect at location on surface of object based on predictable pattern consisting of bright and shadow regions. Kernels are defined corresponding to configurations of dark field illumination sources to enhance detecting potential defect. Areas of potential defect are cut from processed images to sub images. Sub images are stitched together to generate hypothesis of potential defect at location on surface of object. The hypothesis is classified with a classifier to determine whether the potential defect is true defect. The classifier is trained with training data having characteristics of true defect. The method provides efficient automated detection of micro defects on surface of object.

  • Publication number: 20190057498
Abstract: Method and system for detecting line defects on surface of object are presented. An imaging device captures images of surface of object under ambient and dark field illumination conditions. The images are processed with a plurality of image operations to detect areas of potential defects based on predictable pattern consisting of bright and shadow regions. Areas of potential defect are cut from processed images to sub images. Sub images are stitched together to generate hypotheses of potential defects at locations on surface of object. The hypotheses are classified to determine whether the potential defects are true defects at the locations. Line defect is detected by refining line segments detected on the processed image based on criteria. The criteria include distance from the true defects to the line segments and slops between the true defects and the line segments are less than threshold values.

  • Publication number: 20190054407
Abstract: A housing apparatus, as part of a clothes dryer's gaseous fluid exhaust system containing components for maintaining an open restriction free airflow passageway for maintaining the dryer's efficiency and sized to fit within a typical wall cavity of a building. A means for filtering and removing excess clothes lint, preventing entry of lint particulate into an upper exhaust vent pipe or blend with down falling condensate, both being derived from a clothes dryer's warm moist exhaust airflow. A diverter to direct the exhaust airflow to a primary exterior location or to a secondary interior location. A means to separate falling condensate from exhaust airflow and dispose the condensate into an exclusive disposal destination. The elements of this invention combine to increase the efficiency, longer life and safety of a clothes dryer and its exhaust system by removing lint particulate and separate exhaust airflow from falling condensate within the clothes dryer exhaust system.

  • Publication number: 20190054572
Abstract: Systems and methods for machining openings of a component are provided. In one exemplary aspect, a laser system includes features for machining an opening into a component, such as a cooling hole for a CMC component of a gas turbine engine. The component can be oriented in a first position and lasered while oriented in the first position to form a portion of the opening. The component is then oriented to a second position and lasered while oriented in the second position to form another portion of the opening. The component is alternated between the first and second positions until the predetermined geometry of the opening is formed. The component is oriented in the first and second positions such that the laser beam can machine the component without clipping areas that are not desired to be machined.

  • Patent number: 10210846
Abstract: An acoustic plate for a soundboard of a musical instrument, such as a guitar or other stringed instrument, comprises a front surface, a rear surface, and at least one peripheral edge. A plurality of dimples project away from the rear surface. Each dimple includes a dimple volume accessible from the front surface of the acoustic plate. Preferably each dimple is formed into a cone-shape, and may be of varying heights. An adhesive layer adheres the front surface of the acoustic plate to the inside surface of the soundboard. Such an adhesive layer is preferably comprised of an epoxy resin type of adhesive. As such, with the front surface of the acoustic plate adhered to the inside surface of the soundboard with the adhesive layer, the dimple volume of each dimple defines a sound modification chamber for modifying the sounds produced by the musical instrument.

  • Patent number: 10209907
Abstract: Representative embodiments disclose how to remove spilled data from an unauthorized system and/or service in a cloud service. Some embodiments allow a user to remove spilled data in a secure fashion without involving an administrator. Spilled data resides in a data structure backed by allocated storage locations. The system presents a user interface allowing a user to enter information that allows identification of the allocated storage locations. The spilled data is removed from the data structure leaving whitespace in the allocated storage locations where remnants of the spilled data can reside. The system creates a copy of the data structure, removing the whitespace. The system connects the copy of the data structure in place of the original data structure. The original allocated storage locations are then overwritten in a secure manner to remove any remnants of the spilled data.

  • Publication number: 20190049937
Abstract: Disclosed are methods of optimizing a computer model which relates the etch profile of a feature on a semiconductor substrate to a set of independent input parameters (A), via the use of a plurality of model parameters (B). In some embodiments, the methods may include modifying one or more values of B so as to reduce a metric indicative of the differences between computed reflectance spectra generated from the model and corresponding experimental reflectance spectra with respect to one or more sets of values of A. In some embodiments, calculating the metric may include an operation of projecting the computed and corresponding experimental reflectance spectra onto a reduced-dimensional subspace and calculating the difference between the reflectance spectra as projected onto the subspace. Also disclosed are etch systems implementing such optimized computer models.
