  • Patent number: 8939364
Abstract: A structure (10) for holding sample-containing receptacles includes a cover (40) with holes formed therein through which the receptacles can be accessed with a substance transfer mechanism, such as a robotic pipettor. When the transfer mechanism is inserted into and then withdrawn from a receptacle, a string of viscous material may be suspended from the mechanism. A viscous string removal element (44) adjacent each opening (42) engages the string of viscous material and dislodges the string from the mechanism when the mechanism moves in a prescribed path with respect to the removal element.

  • Patent number: 8939916
Abstract: Medical devices for navigation through anatomy, including guidewires, which may have a core wire, a slotted tubular member, or both. Embodiments may have coils, including non-circular cross-section edge-wound marker coils, extended coil tips, and soldered or glued mesial joint coils. Core wires may have a step, ridge, or taper at the joints to the tubular member, and may be flattened at the distal tip. Radiopaque material may be located inside the tubular member, and the distal tip may be heat treated to make it shapeable. Additional tubular members or coils may be used concentrically or in line and may enhance flexibility, provide radiopacity, reduce friction, or reduce material or manufacturing cost. Tubular members may be chamfered or tapered continuously or incrementally. Slots may be arranged in groups, such as groups of three, and may be equal in depth or unequal in depth to provide a steerable or compressible tip.

  • Patent number: 8943210
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention allow a user to master the music played among a social network. Users of the social network subscribe to the master's session and synchronize their media player under control of the master. The master then distributes various selections of music and controls their playback. The master may also add other data, such as voice over or images, to accompany the playback.

  • Patent number: 8938934
Abstract: A corner post application system comprises a conveyor subsystem and an enveloping machine adapted to envelope the plurality of units with a material. The system further includes a swing arm, an applicator arm coupled to the swing arm and adapted to move linearly, a corner post gripper coupled to the applicator arm, and a controller. The controller rotates the swing arm about a vertical axis until a corner post held by the corner post gripper is aligned with adjacent sides that define a corner of the load. The controller thereafter stops rotation of the swing arm and moves the applicator arm linearly toward the corner of the load until the corner post held by the corner post gripper contacts the adjacent sides of the load. A sensor may be included for detecting a corner of the load, with the controller aligning the corner post based on detection by the sensor.

  • Publication number: 20150021975
Abstract: A vehicle wheel spinning device comprising a ring shaped housing having a front and back ring forming a cavity therein is disclosed. The front ring has a series of decorative apertures formed therein. A spinning ring is rotatably mounted within said cavity. Various visual effects are produced by providing on the surface of the spinning ring facing the front ring of said housing at least one section of a contrasting color to the remainder of the surface. When the spinning ring rotates the colors show through said apertures during rotation of the spinning ring. The spinning device is attached to the front of a vehicle wheel in a manner that the housing rotates with the wheel and the spinning ring rotates separately from the rotation of the housing and continues to rotate for a time after the wheel stops rotating.

  • Publication number: 20150021215
Abstract: A packet and label combination structure for use with a beverage container that houses packets of beverage enhancing formulations on the outer surface of the label which can be placed around the body of a bottle or container of water or other liquid and transported with ease. The packets containing the beverage enhancing formulations have perforated edges linking each other allowing for easy removal of the packets from the underlying label to pour the contents of the packet into a beverage container holding water or other liquid. A significant advantage of the packet and label combination feature is that the beverage enhancing formulations are available at one's fingertips when needed to infuse water or other liquid in the bottle or container rather than carrying the packets separately along with the bottle or container.
