  • Publication number: 20230366222
Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems, methods, and computer-readable storage devices for building construction from extrudable materials with improved accuracy due to increased stability of components. In some aspects, a construction system includes a frame assembly disposed at a building site and a moveable frame assembly (e.g., gantry) coupled to the frame assembly and configured to move along a first axis. A moveable platform is coupled to and configured to move along the moveable frame assembly along a second axis perpendicular to the first axis. The moveable platform has an opening and a guide structure is disposed within the opening and configured to move along a third axis that is perpendicular to the first and second axes. The guide structure holds a conduit configured to deposit, via a nozzle, extrudable building material at the building site. Use of the guide structure, disposed within the opening, stabilizes the nozzle during material deposition.

  • Publication number: 20230364700
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing short arc welding-type power is disclosed. The system includes a power supply, a wire feeder, and a controller. The output current is decreased at dive rate when the arc forms. The dive rate is maintained until the currents drops to a threshold, preferably a function of the peak short current in that cycle. Then the current is held steady for a length of time that is a percentage of the short time for that cycle. Then the current is decreased at the normal rate until the short reforms, and the current begins increasing at the normal rate. The holding steady portion can be omitted.

  • Publication number: 20230366357
Abstract: An aircraft has first and second fuel sources containing fuels with different characteristics, and one or more gas turbine engines powered by the fuels and each having a staged combustion system having pilot and main fuel injectors and being operable in pilot-only and pilot-and-main ranges of operation. The gas turbine engines each have a fuel delivery regulator arranged to control fuel delivery to the pilot and main fuel injectors. The method includes: obtaining a proposed mission description; obtaining nvPM impact parameters for the gas turbine engines, the impact parameters being associated with each operating condition of the proposed mission; calculating an optimised set of one or more fuel characteristics for each flight condition of the proposed flight defined in the flight description based on the nvPM impact parameters; and determining a fuel allocation based on the optimised set of one or more fuel characteristics.

  • Publication number: 20230365976
Abstract: Nodulisporic acids (NAs) comprise a group of indole diterpenes known for their potent insecticidal activities; however, biosynthesis of NAs by its natural producer, Hypoxylon pulicicidum (Nodulisporium sp.) is exceptionally difficult to achieve. The identification of genes responsible for NA production could enable biosynthetic pathway optimization to provide access to NAs for commercial applications. Obtaining useful quantities of NAs using published fermentations methods is challenging, making gene knockout studies an undesirable method to confirm gene function. Alternatively, heterologous gene expression of H. pulicicidum genes in a more robust host species like Penicillium paxilli provides a way to rapidly identify the function of genes that play a role in NA biosynthesis. In this work, we identified the function of four secondary-metabolic genes necessary for the biosynthesis of nodulisporic acid F (NAF) and reconstituted these genes in the genome of P.

  • Publication number: 20230365136
Abstract: The disclosure relates to assessing and responding to wheel slippage and estimating road friction for a road surface. For instance, a vehicle may be controlled in an autonomous driving mode in order to follow a trajectory. A wheel of the vehicle may be determined to be slipping such that the vehicle has limited steering control. In response to determining that the wheel is slipping, steering of one or more wheels may be controlled in order to orient the one or more wheels towards the trajectory in order to allow the vehicle to proceed towards the trajectory when the wheel is no longer slipping. In addition, the road friction may be estimated based on the determination that the wheel is slipping. The vehicle may be controlled in the autonomous driving mode based on the estimated road friction.

  • Publication number: 20230368259
Abstract: An issue with the sale of some items is that the buyer pays the seller, an intermediary, and a fixed fee or commission are paid to the distributor and/or retailer after a significant delay or perhaps never. Accordingly, it would be beneficial to provide distributors and/or retailers with an application, system and/or platform that automates payments and/or commission payment distribution via a secure encrypted contract such as stored within a distributed ledger. Beneficially, this distributed ledger may also store secure and trustworthy digital authentication and/or rights verification. Alternatively, one ledger for the sale of an item may be combined with another distributed ledger to manage the additional financial aspects of the asset transfer. Accordingly, there are provided systems and methods for automated payments and/or commission payment distribution via one or more secure encrypted contracts.

  • Publication number: 20230363886
Abstract: A stent graft system includes a first layer of graft material, a second layer of graft material, one or more stent members, one or more reducing belts, and a release wire. The one or more stent members are located between the first layer of graft material and the second layer of graft material. The second layer of graft material is formed to have a corresponding channel over each of the one or more stent members. The one or more reducing belts each include a loop at both ends and each is located in a corresponding channel around a corresponding one of the stent members. The release wire passes through both loops of each of the one or more reducing belts when the one or more stent members are in a compressed state. Pulling the release wire allows for the stent graft system to radially expand.

  • Publication number: 20230370133
Abstract: An antenna array may be associated with forming discovery beams within a geographic area, where each discovery beam may be formed by a corresponding set of antennas of the antenna array and cover a discovery area within the geographic area. Preambles transmitted from terminals within a discovery area of a discovery beam may be detected using the antenna array. Based on detecting a preamble using a discovery beam, a presence of a terminal in a corresponding discovery area may be determined. Based on determining the presence of the terminal, signals detected at a second set of antennas of the antenna array may be processed according to beam coefficients to obtain a beam signal of a communication beam that includes a beam coverage area encompassing a position of the terminal. Each detected signal may comprise a respective component of a signal transmitted by the terminal.
