  • Publication number: 20090308751
Abstract: A slab gel cassette is formed from generally flat plates welded together along their borders with a gel space between the plates that is open at the top and bottom edges of the plates to expose the opposing ends of a gel in the gel space to buffer solutions in which electrodes are immersed. The plates are shaped such that the weld line does not intersect with the bottom opening of the gel space. Sealing of the bottom of the gel space, which is necessary for gel casting, is achieved by placing a sealing strip over the bottom opening with no danger of leakage of the gel solution along a weld line.

  • Publication number: 20090310485
Abstract: Systems and techniques are described which improve performance, reliability, and predictability of networks without having costly hardware upgrades or replacement of existing network equipment. An adaptive communication controller provides WAN performance and utilization measurements to another network node over multiple parallel communication paths across disparate asymmetric networks which vary in behavior frequently over time. An egress processor module receives communication path quality reports and tagged path packet data and generates accurate arrival times, send times, sequence numbers and unutilized byte counts for the tagged packets. A control module generates path quality reports describing performance of the multiple parallel communication paths based on the received information and generates heartbeat packets for transmission on the multiple parallel communication paths if no other tagged data has been received in a predetermined period of time to ensure performance is continually monitored.

  • Patent number: 7633872
Abstract: The subject matter described herein includes methods, systems, and computer program products for managing congestion in a multi-layer telecommunications signaling network protocol stack. According to one method, a congestion parameter is set for a first layer in a telecommunications signaling network protocol stack. The congestion parameter is automatically propagated for at least one second layer in the telecommunications signaling protocol stack. The first layer and the at least one second layer are monitored and layer-specific congestion management procedures are triggered using the parameters.

  • Patent number: 7633868
Abstract: A system and method provides a broadband network node for a best effort network such as the Internet or intranets which supports the inexpensive and rapid deployment of services to the best efforts network. Separate data path and control path mechanisms allow high-speed data transfers with parallel processing flows for the data path that are controlled across data flows by the control path. Packets are classified, modified and shaped to enable the service on the network with an accountant to track packet traffic for control and billing purposes. A series of processing blades perform a modification function for each blade that processes packets according to classifications. The processing blades are modular and scalable for insertion in the broad band switch to rapidly adapt the broadband network node for new services.

  • Patent number: 7632521
Abstract: A unit dosage form, such as a tablet for delivering potassium into the body in a controlled release fashion, comprises of a multiplicity of microencapsulated potassium chloride crystals, which are further coated with a plasticized polymer to improve compressibility of the microcapsules. The compressible microcapsules are blended with a compression aid, such as microcrystalline cellulose and a glidant, such as colloidal silicon dioxide, to form controlled release potassium chloride tablets. The tablets may optionally include other excipients such as surfactants and disintegrants. The tablets thus produced exhibit not only high crushing strength and low friability but also release potassium in humans in a desired controlled release fashion similar to commercially available potassium chloride tablets.

  • Patent number: 7633396
Abstract: An EAS/EXPULSION DETRIMENTAL SUBSTANCE tag in which the tag is held to an article by an attaching assembly, a part of which may be releasably prevented from being withdrawn from the body of the tag. The tag body may be provided with an arcuate channel through which an arcuate detacher probe can be guided for releasing the attaching assembly part. A spring clamp may provide the releasable preventing function and may include jaws specifically adapted to respond to in-plane torsional and/or other forces provided by the arcuate probe, which may be moved through the arcuate channel by rotation to reach the spring clamp. An abutment may be placed within the arcuate channel to prevent a relatively rigid wire formed into an arcuate shape from being used to release the attaching assembly part. The Benefit Denial (Ink portion) of this tag may feature an ink vial that may be disposed inside of a rubber bladder, which may then be placed in a completely sealed, ultrasonically welded compartment.

  • Patent number: 7633861
Abstract: Bounding cell reorder depth is disclosed. It is determined whether a reorder buffer that is associated with a switch fabric exceeds a depth limit. In the event that the reorder buffer exceeds the depth limit, backpressure with respect to a source associated with the reorder buffer is sent. In such cases source based back pressure information is included in a reserved field in a cell that is being sent into the switch fabric. In the event that the reorder buffer does not exceed the depth limit, the cell is sent to the switch fabric. In such cases the reserved field is present in the cell but is unused.

  • Patent number: 7634070
Abstract: A modem to modem communication system supports call waiting services by exchanging hold request and acknowledge signals before relinquishing the line servicing incoming calls. Thereafter, the modem to modem session is reestablished without having to redial. The hold request may be denied or accepted, and may define the duration a modem will hold before hanging up. The holding modem maintains the session by fooling the higher protocol layers, making them believe that the modem is not on hold. Three-way calling services are also used to free up the shared line for outgoing calls while maintaining the session with holding modems. A table may be employed to screen incoming calls through a comparison of the caller ID information with that in the table. The table may be within the modem or the host computer.
