  • Publication number: 20130340245
Abstract: A system and methodology facilitate connection between components of an electric submersible pumping system. The technique utilizes at least one connector designed to connect a first component to a second component of an electric submersible pumping system. The connector is designed as a flangeless connector which secures engagement of the two components without relative rotation between the first component and the second component. Additional flangeless connectors may be positioned between other pairs of components to provide the enhanced connection throughout the electric submersible pumping system.

  • Publication number: 20130257862
Abstract: Modifying 2.5D GIS data for a 2D GIS system involves displaying 3D graphic indicia on a display device, the graphic indicia being displayed in a geospatial manner as a function of 2.5D GIS data in a GIS database associated with a 2D GIS system, and further involves modifying the 2.5D GIS data in the GIS database using the 3D graphic indicia displayed on the display device, including mapping user selections relating to the 3D graphic indicia to 2D geo-location coordinates and modifying the 2.5D GIS data based on the 2D geo-location coordinates.

  • Patent number: 8525827
Abstract: An integrated GIS system in which a 3D visualization system is integrated with a 2D GIS system using interfaces that map 2D components for 3D visualization and map 3D components for processing by the 2D GIS system. A 2D GIS system and a 3D visualization system are integrated through interfaces that provide for 3D visualization of 2.5D GIS data as well as interactive control of the 2D GIS system from 3D windows containing 3D renderings produced by the 3D visualization system. User selections made in a 3D window are mapped to 2D geo-location coordinates for to use by the 2D GIS system components. Changes made via the 3D window to 3D graphic indicia and/or metadata are used to modify GIS data in a GIS database, and the modified GIS data is used to update the 3D rendering to reflect the user changes.

  • Publication number: 20120312531
Abstract: A technique provides an electric submersible pumping system to facilitate a well treatment, such as a hydraulic fracturing well treatment. The electric submersible pumping system is positioned downhole and oriented to intake a fluid delivered downhole for use in the well treatment. Once the fluid is delivered downhole, the electric submersible pumping system pumps, pressurizes and discharges this fluid to perform the well treatment, e.g. the hydraulic fracturing treatment. The pumping system reduces the pressure at which the treatment fluid must be delivered downhole.

  • Publication number: 20120215898
Abstract: The predominant way of customizing and tailoring services on the Internet is the use of cookies. The invention in this disclosure is to use the http header in an http get request as a distribution mechanism of anonymized and unique metadata between the user and the web server, and then for the web server to interrogate an information storage system hosted in the cloud or in a server to get real-time information, classification, categorization of that device in real time. The invention allows the web server to customize the service for that particular session using that information. This two-tiered distribution platform on the internet can be used for a wide range of applications such as advertising, security, authentication, emergency altering, children's privacy in a reliable, robust and trust-worthy way compared to the use of cookies, and the invention is universal and works with any Internet connected device.

  • Publication number: 20110224700
Abstract: A narrow profile surgical ligation clip has two legs with clamping surfaces joined by a hinge near the proximal ends, allowing the clip to reversibly open and close. A locking mechanism is proximal to the hinge to bias or lock the clip closed, including first and second jaw structures spaced on opposite sides of a longitudinal axis of the clip thereby defining a locking space therebetween. In one embodiment, a wedge or buttress body pivots by application of an external force applied to a proximal end of the clip towards the hinge to move into the locking space such that one or more outer surfaces or projections of portions of the body fit into or abut against complementary surfaces or other parts of the locking mechanism or clip assembly to bias or lock the clip in a closed position and provide additional closing force to the inner clamping surfaces.

  • Publication number: 20110203606
Abstract: A radially adjustable barrel, a barrel-adjustment assembly, a radially adjustable heater assembly, and a radially adjustable distal-tip assembly. The barrel is radially adjustable between expanded and contracted positions having different diameters. The barrel-adjustment assembly includes a rotary ring defining a spiral cam guide and includes a cam follower attached to the barrel. The heater assembly includes a post, at least one heater, and at least one spring mounting the heater to the post and biasing the heater radially outward. In use, rotating the ring rotates the spiral cam guide, which displaces the cam follower radially inward or outward, which in turn displaces the outer end of the barrel radially inward or outward to decrease or increase the diameter of the barrel. As the diameter of the barrel is adjusted, the heaters remain in contact with the barrel due to the outwardly biasing influence of the spring.

  • Publication number: 20110190881
Abstract: This invention relates to a means for compensating for a whole or partial loss of speech. The means has a sensor unit in the form of a Logometrix pseudo palate and a palatometer which sense the position of a user's tongue while endeavouring to articulate words or sounds. The sensor unit is connected to a comparator which makes use of suitable artificial intelligence algorithms (such as Multi-Layer Perceptron Neural Networks and Hidden Markov Models) together with a library of stored words and sounds as well as tongue positions and signals related to jaw and lip movement as well as inhalation and exhalation to match words or sounds and transmit the matched words or sounds to a loudspeaker. Preferably the output of the loudspeaker will simulate the natural voice of the user.
