  • Patent number: 4775098
Abstract: A sealed end paperboard carton having a pour opening formed in one end panel thereof and a base member formed from a relatively rigid plastic material secured to the one end panel. The base member has a hingedly mounted movable panel which has an integral closure plug fitting into and sealing the pour opening and which may be moved to an open position to permit materials in the carton to be removed through the pour opening and back to a closed position wherein the closure plug seals the pour opening. A retainer tab is provided for holding the movable panel in an open position.

  • Patent number: 4691858
Abstract: A milk carton blank formable into a liquid tight parallelepiped shaped milk carton. The milk carton blank comprises a generally rectangular shape having a plurality of panel portions formed by a gridwork of longitudinal and transverse fold lines. Cutout portions in oppositely positioned top and bottom panel portions allow the top and bottom panel portions to be folded and sealed with a relatively small number of operations. A perforated tab portion is described which may be removed from a tongue portion of the milk carton to provide a pouring spout. Additional folding lines are described which allow a portion of a top and lateral side panel of the milk carton to be thrust outwardly to facilitate pouring of liquid therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4254173
Abstract: A secondary container packaging material for use in six pack can wraps, six pack bottle carriers, twelve pack carriers, etc., comprising a composite of a paper material laminated to a plastic film. The plastic film provides tear resistance to the composite, so that paper material may be used which has a tear resistance less than that of other secondary packaging paper materials. The reduced tear resistance allows the use of paper having a lower caliper, basis weight, and, therefore, cost than conventional secondary container packaging material. Natural kraft paper and recycled paper of 12-16 point caliper are preferred for use with the present composite. The plastic film may be 0.25-2 mils thick and is preferably formed of polyethylene terpthalate, polyethylene, polyvinylchloride, polypropylene, or cellophane. The preferred films are transparent and permit reverse printing on their inner surface to provide abrasion resistant decoration visible through the film.
