    Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, a method and apparatus is provided for maintaining the coherency of victim data from a time when the data is stored in a victim data buffer until a time when the data is written into a main memory. Alternatively, the coherency of the victim data is preserved until a determination is made that pending probe messages do not target the victim data. At that time the victim data buffer can be deallocated.With both arrangements, a central processing unit can release a victim data buffer at a point in time other than when the data that is stored therein is read from the buffer. Thus, the central processor unit can perform the release or deallocation of the buffer when it is most efficient and when no further access to the data is required.

With such an arrangement, the victim data buffer can be deallocated when the victim valid bit and the probe valid bit have both been cleared.

    Abstract: An active matrix liquid crystal display (AMLCD) and driving method is disclosed. The AMLCD has matrix-arranged pixel assemblies each having display electrodes. A gate line for carrying gate line pulses is connected to a control port of a row of semiconductor devices, which may be thin film transistors (TFTs). Each TFT has an output port connected to the display electrodes. In addition, a data line is connected to an input port of a column of the TFTs. A bootstrap line is capacitively connected to the display electrodes of adjacent rows. This reduce the number of bootstrap lines to half the number of gate and data lines. A bootstrap pulse timing and generating circuit is connected to the bootstrap line to provide a bootstrap pulse that shifts voltages on the display electrodes in only one direction. The bootstrap pulse has a first edge of a first polarity occurring before or during gate pulses carried on a gate line, and a second edge of a second polarity occurring after the gate line pulses.

    Abstract: A compact and short tampon applicator is formed of an outer barrel which surrounds a tampon-holding inner tubular plunger which is slidable within the outer barrel. A portion of the wall of the plunger defines a pair of hinged panels which snap into the interior of the plunger in response to an inwardly directed radial force. This inward force is supplied by a tab on the barrel, once the plunger has been retracted sufficiently out of the barrel to register the hinged panels with the tab. The applicator is readied for use by retracting the plunger rearwardly behind the tampon, sufficiently to cause the hinged panels to engage the tab on the inner surface of the barrel to snap into the plunger. After insertion of the barrel into the catamenial canal, the plunger is pressed inward, back into the barrel, to enable its inwardly snapped panels to engage the rear of the tampon and to eject the tampon through the front of the barrel.

    Abstract: A fare computer for a taxi, a freight carrier, or other use calculates the fare, display the fare as it accrues and displays visual representations of each charge contributing to the accrued fare. The fare computer is particularly suited for use in those localitites in which the taxi fare is based upon zones of travel, in accordance with a zone tariff schedule, rather than on total distance travelled. In a first mode, or ZONE TARIFF MODE, the fare computer calculates the fare from primary charge data, derived from the number of zones traversed in travelling from the origin of the trip to the destination, and secondary charge data, derived from such events as the handling of luggage or pets, extra stops, extra passengers or responding to a telephone request for passenger pick up. A display presents visual representations of the origin and destination zones and of each secondary charge contributing to the accrued fare, along with display of the total accrued fare.

    Abstract: A light pen detection and tracking scheme for detecting and tracking both "on" and "off" cells with a single cursor voltage waveform in an AC gas discharge display panel. The special cursor voltage waveform is applied to the panel during the sustain cycle, in either a line-by-line or binary scanning fashion, to momentarily fire both "on" and "off" cells so that they may be detected by the light pen without a loss of the memory state of the cells. A cross-hair cursor is automatically displayed at the pen position when the search scan is complete. Since both "on" and "off" cells are detected, the system can respond to pen motion by repeating the search to reacquire the pen, so that no special tracking strategy is needed.

    Abstract: Improved writing and erasing in AC gas discharge display panels is obtained by applying a special normalizing voltage waveform to cause the cells to be in a more standardized state, so that the applied writing and erasing pulses act to cause wall voltage changes which are less sensitive to the cell's recent history. The special normalizing waveform is applied adjacent to the erase pulse and/or to the write pulse and acts to fire the cells in a manner such that there is no loss in the memory state of the cells.

    Abstract: A distributed Josephson junction logic circuit is disclosed which includes a plurality of serially disposed Josephson junctions in a superconductive wire-over-groundplane environment wherein the latter is terminated at both ends in its characteristic impedance and energized at one end with a constant voltage source. In addition, at least one portion of the wire-over-groundplane transmission line, which is disposed in series with the junctions, is utilized as an output control and has the same steady state current flowing in it as the plurality of Josephson junctions. Utilizing such an arrangement, logic can be performed by means of multiple controls on a single junction as in terminated line logic or by means of several junctions, each with one or more independent controls, in series. The design is such that the switching of any one or more junctions to the voltage state causes a decrease in current from a level which represents a logical "1" to a lesser current which is representative of a logical "0".

The warp is made from combed sak cotton fiber threads, with a multiplicity of such threads mercerized and plied together to form each warp thread. The filling threads are made up of a multifilament synthetic core wrapped with cotton fiber with a multiplicity of such wrapped threads plied together to form each filling thread. Endless belts made according to this invention have a wear life approximating three times the normal wear life of conventional belts used on cigarette making machines.
