Abstract: The use of a compound comprising formula (I): or a salt, ester, amide or prodrug thereof in the inhibition of an enzyme whose preferred mode of action is to catalyse the hydrolysis of an ester functionality, e.g. in the control and inhibition of unwanted enzymes in products and processes. The compounds are also useful in medicine e.g. in the treatment of obesity and related conditions. The invention also relates to novel compounds within formula (I), to processes for preparing them and pharmaceutical compositions containing them. In formula (I) A is a 6-membered aromatic or heteroaromatic ring; and R1 is a branched or unbranched alkyl (optionally interrupted by one or more oxygen atoms), alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, aryl, arylalkyl, reduced arylalkyl, arylalkenyl, heteroaryl, heteroarylalkyl, heteroarylalkenyl, reduced aryl, reduced heteroaryl, reduced heteroarylalkyl or a substituted derivative of any of the foregoing groups.

Abstract: The disclosed embodiments relate to a system and method for reducing block artifacts in a video picture. Embodiments include a system that adaptively applies a smoothing of a video picture on a pixel by pixel basis depending on the level of detail surrounding the pixel. In embodiments an amount of smoothing of the pixel depends on the level of detail in the four quadrants surrounding the pixel and the contrast between the pixel and adjacent pixels.

Abstract: An electrical coupling bar is described. The coupling bar includes an electrically insulating support with two parallel grooves and metallic strips engaged in the grooves. The metallic strips project out of the grooves with opposite interior faces delimiting a free engagement space. Abstract: In accordance with this invention, a system, method, and computer-readable medium that selectively scans files stored on a computing device for malware is provided. One aspect of the present invention includes identifying files that need to be scanned for malware when a software update that includes a malware signature is received. More specifically, attributes of the new malware are identified by searching metadata associated with the malware. Then, the method searches a scan cache and determines whether each file with an entry in the scan cache is the type that may be infected by the malware. If a file is the type that may be infected by the malware, the file is scanned for malware when a scanning event such as an I/O request occurs. Conversely, if the file is not the type that may be infected by the malware, the file may be accessed without a scan being performed.

Abstract: Predictive analysis systems and methods use and correlate data from historic events to identify trends and develop corrective maintenance and logistics actions in various technology areas, such as the transportation industry, the manufacturing industry, or any other suitable industry that experiences equipment failure. The predictive analysis method and also determines the adequacy and compliance of the requirements prior to the failure of a system in order to preemptively minimize and eliminate these negative outcomes. Current failure trends may be evaluated for one or several components of a given system, which may be the frequency of incidence of failure of one or more components of the system. Engineering instructions for repair may also be evaluated when a failure of one or more components of the system has taken place. On the basis of this information, future failure trends may be forecast and supply channels and maintenance and repair protocols may be updated in order to decrease component failure.

Abstract: An apparatus for applying a patterned coating to an OLED substrate in a continuous roll-to-roll vapor based deposition process is provided comprising a vapor deposition source, a processing drum, a drive roller, and a shadow mask wherein the shadow mask comprises a mask line feature that selectively prevents deposition of the coating onto the substrate. The semi-cylindrical portion include a set of fingers extending from a solid horizontal portion formed perpendicular to the uniplanar support panel. The set of fingers extends downward in a first cylindrical arc, the set of fingers being connected at a second horizontal portion, then the set of fingers extending upward in the first cylindrical arc. The tool also includes two end structures located at each end, extending downward from the support panel in a second cylindrical arc. The tool may be attached to any type of pool pole and be used in other home and gardening purposes.

Abstract: An ozone generation system includes a plurality of modular ozone generating devices, each having an upper and lower housing. The upper housing encloses electrical components for providing high energy power to ozone generator cells of each device to produce an ozone generation output. The lower housing is formed by a multiplicity of section layers enclosing the ozone generator cells and an internal liquid coolant system. Each ozone generator cell has two plasma generation pathways. An orifice is formed in on each one ozone generator cell for maintaining a known and controllable pressure drop across each ozone generator cell. A plurality of ports formed in a center body framing element of the lower housing provides porting for the water in and out, oxygen in and ozone out. The modular devices can be combined on racks having a common manifold system for forming a rack of ozone producing devices for outputting a high yield of ozone.

Abstract: A double-gate semiconductor device includes a MOS gate and a junction gate, in which the bias of the junction gate is a function of the gate voltage of the MOS gate. The breakdown voltage of the double-gate semiconductor device is the sum of the breakdown voltages of the MOS gate and the junction gate. The double-gate semiconductor device provides improved RF capability in addition to operability at higher power levels as compared to conventional transistor devices. The double-gate semiconductor device may also be fabricated in a higher spatial density configuration such that a common implantation between the MOS gate and the junction gate is eliminated.
