  • Patent number: 6864837
Abstract: A dual-polarization wireless base station antenna that implements vertical electrical downtilt and sidelobe reduction using beam steering circuit that includes a variable power divider and a multi-beam beam forming network. The variable power divider includes a single adjustable control element to divide an input voltage signal into a pair of complimentary amplitude voltage drive signals that exhibit matched phase and constant phase delay through the variable power divider. The beam forming network is configured as a double-sided, edge-connected microstrip module mounted to a main panel, which support the antenna elements in a vertical column organized into sub-arrays in a manner that implements sidelobe reduction. The power distribution network connecting the beam steering network to the antenna elements implements beam tilt bias and sidelobe reduction through coordinated phase shifting implemented through transmission media trace length adjustment.

  • Publication number: 20040252044
Abstract: A waveform acquisition system that captures and digitizes a wideband electrical signal through a bank of front end filters, frequency down converters, and conventional digitizers (A/D converters). A software algorithm reconstructs the composite input signal and applies the necessary corrections to remove the effects of hardware impairments. This approach is possible because it uses a class of filters that exhibit the quality of perfect waveform reconstruction, allowing signals whose spectral components overlap multiple filter bands, to be faithfully reconstructed. A calibration generator switched into the input port serves as a reference for quantifying and removing hardware errors. The channelized analog-to-digital converter (ADC) effectively multiplies the bandwidth and sampling rate of the conventional digitizer performance in a single channel by the number of channels in the system.

  • Patent number: 6782466
Abstract: A memory access approach optimizes memory address mapping for accessing data in a virtual memory arrangement wherein multiple banks of data are opened at once. One specific implementation is directed to a process of accessing data in a plurality of addressable banks of memory cells. The process involves accessing the memory cells by addressing arrays in the banks via column and row bits, and directing the address and control signals so that the addressable column address and row address bits are selected with a lower order group of the address bits directed to select the column address bits, and the next highest group of the address bits directed to select bank address bits. The next highest group of the address bits are directed to select the row address bits.

  • Publication number: 20040114675
Abstract: A pilot phase tracking loop for an OFDM receiver including a phase rotator receiving an incoming signal, a fast Fourier transform coupled to a phase rotator output, and a pilot phase error metric including a discrete Fourier transform portion coupled to the phase rotator output. The pilot phase error metric determines a phase error estimate associated with a received OFDM symbol, e.g., a data symbol, from the phase rotator output. A loop filter is coupled to the pilot phase error metric output and an oscillator is coupled to the loop filter output. The oscillator output is coupled to the phase rotator to adjust the phase of subsequent OFDM symbols of the incoming signal. Phase noise introduced by a radio portion of the OFDM receiver and OFDM transmitter is reduced by the baseband portion of the OFDM receiver improving OFDM signal tracking under poor SNR conditions.

  • Publication number: 20040074169
Abstract: A stabilizer clip for a window assembly clip includes a clip body having a generally U-shaped profile. The clip body is preferably sized to be retained in a windowpane run channel assembly. The clip body defines a groove between opposed side walls for slidably receiving an edge of a windowpane. A plurality of pads extends outwardly from the walls. The pads are adapted to slidably engage the windowpane. When the clip body is retained in the windowpane run channel assembly by a mounting means and the windowpane is in an extended position, the pads engage with the windowpane to prevent lateral movement of the windowpane relative to the windowpane run channel assembly.

  • Publication number: 20040037366
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for signal processing for signal modulation and demodulation. In signal processing the present invention maintains substantially identical gain and group delays between transmit in-phase (I) and transmit quadrature-phase (Q) paths by receiving a digital transmit I baseband signal and a digital transmit Q baseband signal of a first multicarrier communication signal. A digital transmit IF signal is digitally constructed from the transmit I and Q digital baseband signals including bandpass sampling and the digital transmit IF signal is converted to an analog transmit IF signal. The present invention additionally maintains substantially identical gain and group delays between receive I and Q paths.
