  • Patent number: 10004779
Abstract: Dermal fibroblasts permanently loose their ability to synthesize elastin, the major component of elastic fibers, shortly after puberty. This progressive loss of elastic fibers cannot be replaced, resulting in the physical signs of aging. The present invention provides methods and compositions containing the polyphenols ellagic acid and/or tannic acid for protection against degradation of cutaneous elastic fibers by the elastolytic enzymes. The use of ellagic acid and/or tannic acid increased the overall deposition of elastic fibers in healthy and damaged skin cells. The protection of both intra-tropoelastin and extra-cellular mature elastic fibers from proteolytic enzymes by ellagic acid and tannic acid caused an increase in the net deposition of elastic fibers. Therefore, embodiments of the present invention provide methods and composition for the treatment of skin and prevention and treatment of degradation of dermal elastic fibers.

  • Patent number: 10005645
Abstract: An exemplary elevator assembly includes an elevator car having a frame member. At least one toe guard panel is moveable between a first position and a second position. In the first position the toe guard panel is situated to provide a vertical surface beneath the elevator car and the toe guard panel has an end spaced a first distance from the elevator car. In the second position the toe guard panel is situated with a second, shorter distance between the end and the elevator car. A moving mechanism coupled with the toe guard panel selectively moves the toe guard panel from the first position into the second position. An instigator member situated in a selected vertical position interacts with the moving mechanism to begin movement of the toe guard panel from the first position when the frame member of the elevator car is approximately at the selected vertical position.

  • Patent number: 10001238
Abstract: A method of repairing a section of a pipe including a breach in the pipe. A surface of a wall of the pipe is prepared generally around the breach. A piece of conformable material of the type capable of carrying a curable polymer is sized in relation to a size of the breach. The sized piece of conformable material is applied to the prepared surface so that the breach is covered by the piece of conformable material. The piece of conformable material is impregnated with a curable polymer. The curable polymer is cured within the piece of conformable material thereby to seal the breach against egress of groundwater into the pipe.

  • Publication number: 20180162975
Abstract: Nowadays, one of the major problems of the oil industry is the presence of large amounts of water and salts, which cannot be efficiently removed by conventional dehydrating polymers. In addition, the acid stimulation operations of petroleum wells cause the chemical degradation of demulsifiers such as polyethers and phenolic resins, reducing drastically their efficiency as water and salt removers. Based on aforementioned, a series of new copolymers has been developed; these copolymers are combinations of an acrylic and an aminoacrylic monomer and they are synthesized by semi-continuous emulsion polymerization (under starved feed conditions), which ensures both the homogeneity of the different chains as well as the randomness of the monomers distribution. The solutions of one of these random copolymers have shown an efficiency similar or superior to combinations of two or three block copolymers (formulations), when they are applied in light or heavy crude oils.

  • Publication number: 20180165244
Abstract: Embodiments allow an IHS to be configured for different distributions of available PCIe bandwidth. An IHS is reconfigured by utilizing different PCIe riser cards that interface with the PCIe bus of the IHS and route different portions of the available PCIe lanes. PCIe bandwidth may be further distributed using an interposer card that allows a portion of the PCIe bandwidth to be routed to a PCIe device that is supported by the PCIe interposer card. The IHS may be reconfigured by manually switching the riser cards and interposer that are coupled to the IHS. The PCIe distribution is reconfigured without relying on hardware switching components that redirect PCIe lanes. The riser cards and the interposer are coupled to a PCIe baseboard connector of the IHS, where the baseboard connector is divided into two baseboard sub-connectors that each interface with the PCIe bus of the IHS.
