  • Patent number: 10891509
Abstract: There are described methods and systems for facilitating identification of an object-of-interest. A face similarity score and a body similarity score of a query image relative to a gallery image are determined. A fused similarity score of the query image relative to the gallery image is determined by applying a relationship between the face similarity score, the body similarity score, and the fused similarity score. The fused similarity score is indicative of whether or not the object-of-interest and the potential object-of-interest are the same object-of-interest. For example, a machine learning process is used to fuse the face similarity score and the body similarity into the fused similarity score. The process is repeated for multiple gallery images. The gallery images may then be ranked according to their respective fused similarity scores.

  • Patent number: 10846554
Abstract: Methods, systems, and techniques for performing a hash-based appearance search. A processor is used to obtain a hash vector that represents a search subject that is depicted in an image. The hash vector includes one or more hashes as a respective one or more components of the hash vector. The processor determines which one or more of the hashes satisfy a threshold criterion and which one or more of the components of the hash vector qualify as a scoring component. The one or more components that qualify correspond to a respective one or more hashes that satisfy the threshold criterion and that are represented in a scoring database that is generated based on different examples of a search target. The processor determines a score representing a similarity of the search subject to the different examples of the search target.

  • Patent number: 8225300
Abstract: A device receives a program that includes one of a parallel construct or a distributed construct, creates a target component from the program, and integrates the target component into a target environment to produce a client program that is executable on multiple heterogeneous server platforms.

  • Patent number: 5901162
Abstract: A mode-locking device for a laser operating at a defined wavelength, has a substrate, transparent to the defined wavelength, with a front side for receiving, incident radiation and a back side. An anti-reflection coating is formed on the front side to minimize reflection loss at the defined wavelength. A quantum well structure is arranged on the back side. A high reflectance structure is arranged behind the quantum well structure in such a way that an electric field peak in the incident radiation lies coincides with that of the quantum well structure. This device offers a more reliable and less costly approach for the production of non-linear mirrors since the layers of the dielectric stack do not have to be formed by epitaxial deposition.

  • Patent number: 4609876
Abstract: Laser pulse generation techniques are disclosed in which two competing non-linear processes, e.g. stimulated Brillouin scattering and laser-induced breakdown are employed in combination to generate a short laser pulse. Narrow linewidth UV radiation amplified to the millijoule level in a XeCl discharge module has been used to generate pulses of less than 200 picoseconds in duration.

  • Patent number: 4490651
Abstract: The laser-triggered high voltage rail gap switch includes two parallel electrodes in a high pressure environment of SF.sub.6 and Ar. A pulsed UV laser directs a coherent beam parallel to the electrodes to initiate multichannel breakdown in the gap between the electrodes. This breakdown is enhanced by including an organic additive such as fluorobenzene or tri-n-propylamine in the gas mixture.

  • Patent number: 4484106
Abstract: The UV radiation triggered rail-gap switch applies a high voltage from a low impedance source to a low impedance load. The switch includes first and second parallel elongated electrodes spaced to form a uniform gap along their length. The first electrode is adapted to be connected to the high voltage source, while the second electrode is adapted to be connected to the low impedance load. When a voltage from the source is applied to the electrodes, one electrode will be positive relative to the other electrode. In addition, the cross-section of each of the electrodes is sufficiently smooth to prevent points of high field concentration between the electrode. This cross-section is defined by the field enhancement factor of each electrode which is preferably less than 1.5. The switch also includes an enclosure in which the electrodes are located and which contains a gas mixture for maintaining the breakdown threshold between the electrodes. A preferred gas mixture includes Ar, N.sub.2, and SF.sub.

  • Patent number: 4401920
Abstract: The laser-triggered high voltage rail gap switch includes two parallel electrodes in a high pressure environment of SF.sub.6 and Ar. A pulsed UV laser directs a coherent beam parallel to the electrodes to initiate multichannel breakdown in the gap between the electrodes. This breakdown occurs at a fixed time delay after the laser pulse. This breakdown is enhanced by including an organic additive such as fluorobenzene or tri-n-propylamine in the gas mixture.

  • Patent number: 4190811
Abstract: A method and apparatus for switching an infrared radiation signal laser beam in which a semiconductor, capable of transmitting the signal beam without damage, is provided and upon which the signal beam is incident at an angle which may preferably be Brewster's angle. The surface of the semiconductor is irradiated by a second laser beam which has a sufficiently high frequency to produce free carriers in the semiconductor and which has a sufficient radiation intensity and time duration to produce a free carrier density greater than the critical density for the signal beam resulting in substantially total reflection of the signal beam from the semiconductor surface. In particular, a pulsed CO.sub.2 laser beam which is incident on a polycrystalline n-type germanium semiconductor is reflected by irradiating the semiconductor with a pulsed ruby or Nd:glass laser beam.
