  • Patent number: 5359646
Abstract: A system and method for testing subscriber's services and sectionalizing service trouble in distributed networks, such as Advanced Intelligent Network (AIN), includes a test call set-up component, which enables a tester to set-up a test call. A test call can be set up by the tester by interactively defining the test environment and other information to emulate a call from a subscriber's communication line. A test call can also be set-up by marking triggers in the subscriber's trigger criteria and by marking the subscriber's subscription data at the service control point/adjunct. The test call set-up component also establishes a maintenance parameter which defines the environment in which a test call is to be processed and the data to be collected, if any, during the test call.

  • Patent number: 5355387
Abstract: An interface module (10) for transverse energy input to dye laser modules is provided particularly for the purpose of delivering enhancing transverse energy beams (36) in the form of illumination bar (54) to the lasing zone (18) of a dye laser device, in particular to a dye laser amplifier (12). The preferred interface module (10) includes an optical fiber array (30) having a plurality of optical fibers (38) arrayed in a co-planar fashion with their distal ends (44) receiving coherent laser energy from an enhancing laser source (46), and their proximal ends (4) delivered into a relay structure (3). The proximal ends (42) of the optical fibers (38) are arrayed so as to be coplanar and to be aimed generally at a common point. The transverse energy beam array (36) delivered from the optical fiber array (30) is acted upon by an optical element array (34) to produce an illumination bar (54) which has a cross section in the form of a elongated rectangle at the position of the lasing window (18).

  • Patent number: 5353166
Abstract: An optical mounting system using interconnected annuli that support optical elements is made more accurate by forming raised engagement surfaces around the periphery of the annuli to confront and engage each other in a mounting plane perpendicular to the concentric axis of the annuli. The raised engagement surfaces are preferably formed as concentric ridge rings spaced radially inside and outside a row of screw holes used for interconnecting the annuli. The raised engagement surfaces are also preferably continuous around the peripheries of the annuli so they can be ground accurately flat and provide interannuli mounting surfaces that are resistant to deformation.

  • Patent number: 5346530
Abstract: A method and apparatus for atomizing liquid metal are disclosed. A vessel supplies liquid metal through a pouring channel to an atomizing nozzle. A flow sensor provides at least one gas flow into the liquid metal, and determines a pressure difference from the gas flow. A processor determines the liquid metal flow rate through the nozzle from the pressure difference. A control adjusts the liquid metal flow rate in response to the determined liquid metal flow rate, and the liquid metal is atomized.

  • Patent number: 5336094
Abstract: Apparatus for electrically interconnecting a lead of an integrated circuit device to a terminal spaced at a distance from the lead, such as on a printed circuit board. The apparatus is also useful for interconnecting two printed circuit boards. The apparatus includes a housing which has at least two flanges extending therefrom. The flanges are spaced a distance with an elastomeric element captured thereby and extending therebetween. A conductive contact is mounted on the elastomeric element and thus freely suspended for contact with terminals to be interconnected. A multiplicity of such contacts may be arranged in a suitable pattern for interconnecting specified integrated circuit devices with a printed circuit board. The contact shape can be generally disk-like to provide maximum wiping action and to facilitate air-tight contact between the terminal and interconnect apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5335426
Abstract: Water contamination is purged from molecular sieve material used in oxygen concentrators by heating the molecular sieve material to a temperature in the range of approximately 450.degree. to 950.degree. F., and subjecting the molecular sieve material to a stream of dry sweep gas having a dew point in the range of approximately -80.degree. to -100.degree. F. In the preferred embodiment, the molecular sieve material is contained in a vessel and heated by means of a number of heating elements. In addition, a flow of dry sweep gas is produced by at least two drying chambers containing a desiccating material. A first valve assembly alternately cycles the sweep gas through the first drying chamber and then through said second drying chamber.
