  • Patent number: 9307203
Abstract: A method and communication system are disclosed for conducting a conference among sets of conference participants connected by a communication system. This system has at least one conference server, at least one image reproduction unit at each conference environment and at least one microphone at each conference environment. The method involves calculating respective virtual images of a majority of the conference environments, each virtual image containing at least one image corresponding to at least one conference participant who is present at that conference environment, calculating an aggregate representation of the virtual images of all conference environments and displaying the aggregate representation on at least one image reproduction unit. The method also calculates an individual representation for an individual conference participant and provides the individual participant with the individual representation while simultaneously providing to that individual the aggregate representation.

  • Patent number: 9306520
Abstract: Techniques for preventing reverse current in applications wherein a tracking supply voltage is placed in parallel with a switching power stage. The tracking supply voltage may be boosted to a level higher than a battery supply voltage using, e.g., a boost converter. In an aspect, a negative current detection block is provided to detect negative current flow from the boosted tracking supply voltage to the battery supply voltage. A high-side switch of the switching power stage may be disabled in response to detecting the negative current. To prevent false tripping, the tracking supply voltage may be further compared with the battery supply voltage, and a latch may be provided to further control the high-side switch.

  • Patent number: 9307112
Abstract: For cameras that capture several images in a burst mode, some embodiments of the invention provide a method that presents one or more of the captured images differently than the remaining captured images. The method identifies at least one captured image as dominant image and at least another captured image as a non-dominant image. The method then displays each dominant image different from each non-dominant image in a concurrent presentation of the images captured during the burst mode. The dominant images may appear larger than non-dominant images, and/or appear with a marking that indicates that the images are dominant.

  • Patent number: 9302787
Abstract: Devices for enabling navigation of a crawler vehicle along an airfoil-shaped body, such as a helicopter blade, in a low-cost fashion with high reliability, especially for swept configuration blades. Using the natural tendency of vacuum adherence devices to adhere to changing surface contours, the crawler vehicle can adhere itself to airfoil-shaped structures in a way that allows the crawler vehicle to easily translate along an airfoil-shaped body while accommodating extreme variations along the surface of the airfoil-shaped body. The crawler vehicle can be designed to eliminate any trailing edge follower wheel, which simplifies the crawler's ability to accommodate trailing edge protrusions, such as trim tabs.

  • Patent number: 9307084
Abstract: In one embodiment, a secure mechanism operates in conjunction with a three-way bridge in a contact center to protect against inadvertent exposure of sensitive information provided during a call. During the call, an agent may bridge on an interactive voice response system (“IVR”) onto the call prompting the party to enter sensitive information, such as a credit card account number, to effect a payment. The information may be provided by the party using dual-tone multiple frequency (“DTMF”) tones or speech. The IVR may provide a confirmatory announcement indicating the sensitive information received. A switch may be controlled by the IVR so that any sensitive information expected from the party or provided by the IVR in a confirmatory announcement is not presented to the agent or to a recording system. In this manner, the IVR suppresses the exposure of sensitive information to the agent and/or a recording system.

  • Patent number: 9305858
Abstract: An array of through-silicon vias (TSVs) are formed in a silicone substrate. The vias can be tapered such that the diameter of the via at the surface of the substrate is larger than the diameter of the via at its bottom, with the diameter varying continuously along its depth. After the via is formed, it is seeded with a thin layer of nanocrystalline diamond (NCD) particles, and a NCD film is grown on the bottom and along the sidewalls of the via. The presence of the diamond-filled vias provides improved thermal management to semiconductor devices formed on the silicon substrate.

  • Patent number: 9303935
Abstract: A gun locking and unlocking device, which may be configured to be disposed on or in a gun to alternatively prevent or enable firing, includes a data receiver, a data memory and a logic device for determining whether security data received by the receiver is the same, or substantially the same, as data stored in the data memory. One or more separate electronic gun key devices are provided to transmit security data and gun control signals to the data receiver of the gun lock device. The logic device responds to the gun control signals transmitted by one of the gun key devices to lock or unlock the gun, respectively, when the received security data and the security data stored in memory are substantially similar. The logic device also automatically locks the gun when the gun is located more than a prescribed distance from the gun key device. In case of emergency the gun security feature can be bypassed (overridden) by transmitting a gun control command to either lock or unlock the gun.

  • Patent number: 9304659
Abstract: A preferred contact group centric interface for a communication device can be used to facilitate communications by a user. The user interface can be arranged to activate from a user's “home page” on the display, from an idle screen that is accessed after a timeout period expires, or any other appropriate mechanism that activates the preferred contact group centric experience. A user selects the preferred contact group from among an array of the user's contacts. Once the contact group is configured, a minimal number of navigation/selection features is necessary to activate any number of communication modes available to the contacts. The contact group is configured such that simple and quick navigation between the contact members is achieved. The contact group can be presented in 2D and 3D arrangements, in any number of list or geometric configurations. A pricing plan can optionally be tied to each member of the contact group.

  • Patent number: 9304699
Abstract: A technique manages token states across multiple storage processors (SPs) of a data storage array. The technique involves using a token, by a first SP, to identify particular data stored on the array. The technique further involves updating, by the first SP, a first SP-controlled set of token state information for the token, the first SP-controlled set of token state information including (i) a first token state which indicates whether the token is “idle” or “busy” from a perspective of the first SP and (ii) a second token state which indicates whether the token is “idle” or “busy” from a perspective of a second SP. The technique further involves expiring, by the first SP, the token in response to the first SP-controlled set of token state information indicating that the token has remained “idle” for at least a predefined amount of time.
