Patent number: 12001865Abstract: Embodiments described herein are generally directed to a controller of a managed container service that facilitates selection among bare metal machines available within a private cloud. According to an example, a request is received by a Container-as-a-Service controller from a CaaS portal to create a cluster based at least in part on resources of a private cloud of a customer of a managed container service. An inventory of bare-metal machines available within the private cloud is received from a Bare-Metal-as-a-Service (BMaaS) provider associated with the private cloud. A particular bare metal machine is identified for the cluster by selecting among the available bare-metal machines based on cluster information associated with the request, the inventory, and a best fit algorithm configured in accordance with a policy established by the customer.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 2023Date of Patent: June 4, 2024Assignee: Hewlett Packard Enterprise Development LPInventors: Bret Alan McKee, Peter Erik Mellquist, Frederick Miles Roeling

Patent number: 11969666Abstract: Locomotion-based motion sickness has long been a complaint amongst virtual reality gamers and drone pilots. Traditional head-mounted display experiences require a handheld controller (e.g. thumbstick, touchpad, gamepad, keyboard, etc.) for locomotion. Teleportation compromises immersive presence and smooth navigation leads to sensory imbalances that can cause dizziness and nausea (even when using room-scale sensor systems). Designers have therefore had to choose between comfort and immersion. The invention is a hands-free, body-based navigation technology that puts the participant's body in direct control of movement through virtual space. Participants lean forward to advance in space; lean back to reverse; tip left or right to strafe/sidestep; and rotate to look around. In some embodiments, the more a participant leans, the faster they go.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 2022Date of Patent: April 30, 2024Assignee: MONKEYmedia, Inc.Inventors: Eric Justin Gould Bear, Rachel M. Publication number: 20240112787Abstract: Vendable units (VU) are maintained within respective compartments of a dispensing apparatus. The VU are managed in accordance with a hierarchical identifier (ID) scheme. VU are assigned a first identifier determinative of the type of beneficial product contained within the VU and a second identifier determinative of the lot or batch of the beneficial product. VU are assigned to compartments based on a combination of the first and second ID. During operations to load VU into the apparatus, the compartment assigned to the VU is unlocked while other compartments are locked, reducing the potential for human error. Similarly, when dispensing VU from the apparatus, the compartment comprising the VU to be dispensed to the patient is unlocked while other compartments remain locked, further reducing the potential for error.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 4, 2023Publication date: April 4, 2024Applicant: VendRx, Inc.Inventors: Trent Jefferies, Russell McKee, Doug Wozny
