  • Patent number: 8930028
Abstract: A processor module includes memory having instructions for executing functions of a handheld diabetes management device and a processor that selectively executes the instructions. Battery terminals electrically connect the processor module with a re-chargeable battery. A receptacle is configured in accordance with a universal serial bus (USB) standard. A component is included for communicating information from the handheld diabetes management device to a user or another device. A multiplexer module relays power from the receptacle to a bus voltage node. A first switching device is connected between the bus voltage node and a second voltage node. The component receives power from the second voltage node. A second switching device is connected between the bus voltage node and a third voltage node. The processor module is directly connected to the bus voltage node and to the third voltage node.

  • Publication number: 20140379807
Abstract: A system for managing compositions of software components or applications is disclosed. In particular, systems in which the software components or applications communicate with one another using message-oriented middleware are considered. Each component processing a data feed item adds an annotation to the data feed item, so that the cumulative annotation which is seen in the processed feed for an application provides a history of the processing carried out on the input data feed(s). Each software component or application in the processing system is arranged to store a log of each message it inputs, the process(es) it carries out on that message, and the output message generated. The software component or application further includes a reference to a log interface (e.g. a Uniform Resource Locator) in the entry it makes to the message annotation. A downstream node is then able to use that interface reference to extract (192) the more detailed information to be found in the log.

  • Publication number: 20140380466
Abstract: An approach for providing hierarchical pattern recognition of communication network data is described. A network security brain platform may process communication network data associated with one or more levels of communication network hierarchies. The network security brain platform may further determine a network information pattern of the communication network data based on one or more network information pattern models. The network security brain platform may also identify a network service issue based on the determined network information pattern. The network information pattern may include a network security pattern.

  • Publication number: 20140359119
Abstract: A system for managing compositions of software components or applications is disclosed. In particular, systems in which the software components or applications communicate with one another using message-oriented middleware are considered. The system is fed by one or more data feeds, and produces a plurality of processed feeds for respective applications. The data items in the input data feeds are processed by the software components or applications which form a data feed processing graph, with each application having a processing path (or egress-rooted tree) which results in the processed feed for that application. Managing such systems is complex. This complexity is tackled by having each component processing a data feed item add an annotation to the data feed item, so that the cumulative annotation which is seen in the processed feed for an application provides a history of the processing carried out on the input data feed(s).

  • Patent number: 8893298
Abstract: An app is made secure using an app wrapping security technique and a network linker that creates an executable binary file of the wrapped app that does not use custom dynamic libraries. The network linker includes a client-side linker component and a server-side linker component. When the app is created and the developer decides to have it security wrapped, an extra parameter is inserted in the client-side linker component for invoking the network linker of the present invention. If a call is being made from app security wrapping code, then the invocation resolves to normal system libraries and the call is not shimmed. Once all the symbols have been resolved on the server-side linker, the executable binary is transmitted back to the client-side linker component where it is digitally signed by the app developer and put in a suitable form for uploading to an app store or marketplace.

  • Publication number: 20140316261
Abstract: Systems and methods for detecting biometrics using a life detecting radar are disclosed. Life detecting radars can include transmit antennas configured to transmit continuous microwave (“CW”) radio signals that reflect back upon making contact with various objects. The signal can be systematically varied in frequency to provide a signal that is essentially continuous with short gaps between transmissions at different frequencies. The reflected return signals are received by one or more receive antennas and processed to detect one or more targets. The received signal can include a static (i.e. constant phase) signal corresponding to reflections from objects that do not move. The received signal can also include a phase varying signal that corresponds to reflections from a living target having measurable biometrics including (but not limited to) breathing patterns and heartbeats. Clutter can be removed and the remaining portions of the received signal are analyzed for target detection.
