  • Patent number: 7061834
Abstract: An optical head and a disk recording and reproducing apparatus using the same. The optical head can realize a stable recording and reproducing with less cross-talk and can be made small and thin by making the objective lens to be small and thin. The optical head includes an optical system including a light source having astigmatic difference and an objective lens that forms an optical spot on an information recording medium. The optical system has optical properties in that the optical spot has an initial astigmatism on the design optical axis, the direction of the initial astigmatism is a direction in which a back-side line focus is substantially perpendicular to the radial direction of the information recording medium, and astigmatism is generated in the direction in which the initial astigmatism of the optical spot is reduced as the objective lens moves in the direction in which the objective lens is more distant from the design optical axis in the radial direction.

  • Publication number: 20060123505
Abstract: Full-length cDNAs of plants and their uses are provided. Source plants are preferably monocot plants, more preferably poaceous plants, and most preferably rice. Vectors carrying said cDNAs and transformants containing said cDNAs or said vectors, transgenic plants containing said transformants, polypeptides encoded by said cDNAs are also provided. The full-length cDNA clones play important roles in the annotation of correct gene coding region, determination of exons and introns, comprehensive expression analysis on the transcription level and proteome analysis. Furthermore, full-length cDNA clones are industrially useful in producing plants having different properties from those of the wild type due to the inhibition of expression and functional suppression in plant bodies.

  • Patent number: 7058497
Abstract: When a shift routine is not being executed in an automatic transmission and a difference between an actual turbine speed and a calculated synchronous speed is equal to, or greater than, a preset value ?, a difference ?NT between an estimated turbine speed and the actual speed when the automatic transmission is in a neutral state is calculated. When ?NT is equal to, or less than, a preset value ?, it is determined that a failure related to the neutral state of the automatic transmission has occurred. Also, when ?NT is greater than a preset value ?, it is determined that a failure related to slipping of a frictional engaging element has occurred.

  • Publication number: 20060114346
Abstract: A sensed image and shooting time information corresponding to the sensed image are stored on a memory card. A display unit comprises a plurality of display areas at specific consecutive shooting times and displays the shooting time in the display area. A CPU specifies a display area in which a sensed image corresponding to the shooting time as an image-existing area, and enables the display unit to visibly indicate the image-existing area of the display areas specified as the image-existing area, based on a prescribed condition by a cursor. In this case, when the movement of the display area is instructed, the CPU moves only the image-existing area and indicates the existence of an image, by controlling the movement of the cursor.

  • Patent number: 7054075
Abstract: The invention provides an optical apparatus enabling diopter adjustment, etc. to be achieved using, for instance, a reflection type variable-optical property optical element or a variable-optical property mirror but without recourse to any mechanical moving part. The variable-optical property mirror 9 comprises an aluminum-coated thin film 9a and a plurality of electrodes 9b. Via variable resistors 11 and a power source switch 13 a power source 12 is connected between the thin film 9a and the electrodes 9b, so that the resistance values of the variable resistors 11 can be controlled by an operating unit 14. The shape of the thin film 9a as a reflecting surface is controlled by changing the resistance value of each variable resistor 11 in response to a signal from the operating unit 14 in such a manner that the imaging capability of the variable mirror is optimized.

  • Publication number: 20060109813
Abstract: A plurality of types of available transmission rates to be used for transmission of data packets are individually managed for each receiver terminal. When there are a plurality of data packets to be transmitted onto a transmission buffer and when it is possible to transmit said plurality of data packets simultaneously, the packet sizes representative of the data amounts of the respective data packets are referred to as well as the transmission rates of the respective data packets associated with the receiver terminals. The packet time lengths (transmission times) defined by the packet sizes and transmission rates are checked for the respective data packets. A plurality of data packets whose packet time lengths are approximately equal to each other are selected regardless of their receiver terminals. The transmissions of the plurality of selected data packets are commenced simultaneously by use of a plurality of radio channels.
