    Abstract: Wound closure methods and apparatus are provided which utilize blood fluid by activating the clotting cascade of blood fluid outside the body within a substantially enclosed sterile container then introducing the blood fluid to the wound site to complete clotting. Methods and apparatus for providing ways of inhibiting anti-coagulating agents and slowing fibrin clot degradation are also disclosed. Kits for practicing the invention singularly or in combination with and/or associated with preferred procedures are also disclosed. The present invention provides improved methods of creating hemostasis or control of bleeding at the site of wounds, particularly wounds created in arteries during procedures employing percutaneous access. The temporary result buffer is suitable for storing the modification information in set/clear pairs of bits corresponding to respective register bits of the register. The commit function circuit is configured to receive the set/clear pairs of bits from the temporary result buffer when the instruction is committed. The commit function circuit is suitable for generating an updated bit in response to receiving the set/clear pairs of bits. The updated bit is then committed to the corresponding register bit of the register.

    Abstract: A system is disclosed for facilitating operation of a peripheral bus, such as a PCI bus, that operates at multiple clock speeds. The system includes an expansion slot controller that identifies the number of peripheral devices that have been installed in the expansion slots, and further determines whether these devices support high speed operation. The expansion slots transmit a signal indicating the presence of a peripheral device in the slot, and also transmit a signal indicating whether the device is operable at the higher clock frequency. Once the expansion slot controller determines this information, it decides whether operation at the higher frequency is supported by the peripheral devices and by the bus bridge. The expansion slot controller informs each peripheral device of what the operating frequency will be, and transmits a signal to the PCI bus bridge indicating if high frequency operation will be supported.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a septal defect closure device (10) having a first occluding disk (30) having a first flexible membrane (32) attached to a first frame (34) and a second occluding disk (20) having a second flexible membrane (22) attached to a separate second frame (24). The first frame has at least two outwardly extending loops joined to one another by flexible joints. These loops are attached to the first membrane to define taut fabric petals when the first disk is in a deployed configuration. A central portion of the first membrane is joined to the central portion of the second membrane via a joining segment, which may comprise a conjoint disk. The flexible joints of the first frame are received within the joining segment. This septal defect closure device provides enhanced retrievability.

    Abstract: This invention is directed to methods for treating aneurysms wherein the aneurysmal sac is filled with a non-particulate agent or plurality of such agents and/or with a fluid composition which solidifies in situ. Filling of the aneurysmal sac employs sufficient amount of the non-particulate agent or plurality of such agents and/or the fluid composition to inhibit blood flow into the aneurysm sac. In addition, the methods of this invention also provide for non-endogenous isolation of the parent artery proximal and distal to the aneurysmal sac from systemic blood flow of the treated mammal. The combination of these features provides for treatment of the aneurysmal sac while, at the same time, inhibiting aneurysm formation and/or regrowth in the diseased portions of the arterial wall proximal and distal to the treated aneurysm.

    Abstract: A system and method for modeling the power consumed by a logic cell in a computer controlled power estimation process estimating the power consumed for an integrated circuit represented by logic cells and connections between cells. The present invention models power consumption within a logic cell associated with a particular designated pin (output, internal, or bidirectional) based on which input (or internal or bidirectional) pin transitioned causing the designated pin to transition. This is referred to as path dependent power modeling. A different power consumption value can be provided for each different modeled transition. The logic cells and the power consumption model for them are stored in a logic cell “library” within the computer system. Path dependent power modeling of the present invention allows library designers to specify a different set of power values depending on which pin transition (e.g., input pin) caused the designated pin to transition.

    Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed for correcting spectral measurements, such as are obtained by a spectrophotometer for measuring color. A single matrix is used that operates on a raw measurement vector (spectrum) to obtain a corrected spectrum. The matrix may embody a transform that minimizes the difference between the corrected spectra and a set of reference spectra. The difference may be characterized by a set of basis function weighting vectors which are then used to build the correction matrix. Correction of high resolution spectra (very long measurement vectors) is thereby allowed, without the large number of measurements that would normally be required. The reference spectra can be calibration data, or measurements made by another instrument which is desired to be simulated.

    Abstract: An evacuation sheath assembly and method of treating occluded vessels which reduces the risk of distal embolization during vascular interventions is provided. The evacuation sheath assembly includes an elongated tube defining an evacuation lumen having proximal and distal ends. A distal sealing surface is provided on a distal portion of the tube and is configured to form a seal with a blood vessel. Obturator assemblies and infusion catheter assemblies are provided to be used with the evacuation sheath assembly. A method of treatment of a blood vessel using the evacuation sheath assembly includes advancing the evacuation sheath assembly into the blood vessel through a guide catheter. Normal antegrade blood flow in the blood vessel proximate to the stenosis is stopped and the stenosis is treated.

    Abstract: An optical sensor generates blood pressure data by obtaining two dimensional images of the surface of the patient's body, such as in the vicinity of the radial artery in the wrist area. Blood flow in the patient causes light to be reflected off a flexible reflective surface applied against the patient with a hold down pressure, and the scattering of light is sensed with a two-dimensional array of photo-detectors. The output of the photo-detectors during systolic and diastolic events is calibrated against known blood pressure measurements taken with a conventional air-cuff sphygmomanometer. Linear calibration relationships between output signal and blood pressure are obtained during calibration for some set of the photo-detectors. When blood pressure data is obtained from the patient, the linear calibration relationship between output signals and blood pressure is applied to the output signals from the set of photo-detectors, resulting in blood pressure data.
