    Abstract: A method to enhance security of a vehicle against theft includes; receiving, by a diagnostic device, a customer personal information number (PIN) code for smart key registration; verifying, by a vehicle integrated controller, the validity of the customer PIN code; and encrypting and storing, by the vehicle integrated controller, the customer PIN code according to a result of the verification of the customer PIN code. The method further includes: displaying, by the diagnostic device, whether the smart key registration is completed according to a result of the storing of the customer PIN code.
