  • Patent number: 8134426
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a two-track surface acoustic wave (SAW) device that has a reduced size compared to a traditional two-track SAW device by eliminating an internal ground connection node of the traditional two-track SAW device. The internal ground connection node is eliminated by coupling an internal ground interconnection to an external ground connection node through an interconnecting ground grating, which is part of one of two SAW tracks of the two-track SAW device. The internal ground interconnection is located in an internal region of the two-track SAW device that is defined by the two SAW tracks and by two electrical interconnections between the two SAW tracks.

  • Patent number: 8135424
Abstract: A cooperative sensing technique (300) operates by selecting a group of subscribers (302) from a secondary system, measuring a cooperative sensing metric (306) and then using the metric to identify an achievable spatial diversity gain for the group of selected subscribers (308). Once an achievable spatial diversity gain is determined for the group (308/412), it is compared to a required spatial diversity gain (310), and if the condition is met at (310), the validated group can begin spectrum sensing (314) to identify a vacant/suitable channel for operation. If the achievable spatial diversity gain is insufficient, then a new group of users is selected (312) within the secondary system and the process repeats itself.

  • Patent number: 8135717
Abstract: Words having selected characteristics in a corpus of documents are found using a data processor arranged to execute queries. Memory stores an index structure in which entries in the index structure map words and marks for words having the selected characteristics to locations within documents in the corpus. Entries in the index structure represent words and other entries represent marks with the location information of a marked word. The entries for the marks can be tokens coalesced with prefixes of respective marked words or adjacent. A query processor forms a modified query by adding a mark for a word to the query. The processor executes the modified query.

  • Publication number: 20120059743
Abstract: A method for having a mobile price transaction system including comparisons. The system obtains information about prices and transactions involving products and services in real time over a wireless link. The actions include making a price comparison inquiry to a central server for the product, service, or price information. The inquiry is formatted in the central server for transmission to sources of the information such as vendors or their web sites. After receiving a response from the sources, the response is suitably formatted and is displayed on the mobile unit. The information will often be available locally on the central server, but the present invention includes commanding remote sources to provide an action such as a response, including a response at a desired time or for desired conditions.

  • Publication number: 20120059310
Abstract: A method for aggregating a substance in a localized region within a body of an animal comprises applying a vibration pattern that causes aggregation of the substance to the localized region within the body of the animal, introducing the substance and aggregating the substance in the localized region based upon application of the vibration pattern. The substance, which may be a drug, fluorescent dye, conjugate of the two or a smart probe, may aggregate to bone, specifically to the lumbar region of the spine. About two to about four times more substance may aggregate in the localized region of the body relative to a control where no vibration pattern is applied.

  • Publication number: 20120059696
Abstract: An advertisement gateway that provides an interface for multiple user devices and multiple advertisement sources to communicate is presented. The advertisement gateway is capable of translating advertisement requests from a user device in a particular format into another format that is compatible with an advertisement source. Conversely, the advertisement gateway can translate advertisement responses from an advertisement source in a particular format into another format that is compatible with the requesting device. In this manner, the advertisers only have to develop an advertisement using a single protocol and format (i.e., the protocol to communicate with the advertisement source) and still be able to provide their advertisements to a wide variety of user devices.

  • Patent number: 8131304
Abstract: A method of dynamically allocating RF communication channels to a wireless communication device (102). A plurality of dynamic spectrum allocation (DSA) channels (222, 224) can be identified. The DSA channels can be channels that are available to a non-incumbent user to be used for RF communications. Based on at least one required channel parameter, a DSA channel can be selected as a first channel to allocate to the wireless communication device. At least a second channel can be selected to allocate to the wireless communication device based on a spectral relationship between the first channel and the second channel to ensure that the first and second channels are separated by at least a minimum required frequency separation (216).
