  • Patent number: 11047733
Abstract: A method for light-to-frequency conversion comprises generating a photocurrent by means of a photodiode and converting the photocurrent into a digital comparator output signal in a charge balancing operation depending on a first clock signal. From the digital comparator output signal an asynchronous count is determined and comprises an integer number of counts depending on the first clock signal. From the digital comparator output signal a fractional time count is determined and depends on a second clock signal. Finally, from the asynchronous count and from the fractional time count a digital output signal is calculated which is indicative of the photocurrent generated by the photodiode. The method may be carried out by an exemplary light-to-frequency converter equipped with a photodiode.

  • Publication number: 20210182617
Abstract: A method and system are disclosed for monitoring passengers in within a cabin of a vehicle and determining whether the passengers are engaging in abnormal behavior. The method and system uses a novel vector to robustly and numerically represent the activity of the passengers in a respective frame, which is referred to herein as an “activity vector.” Additionally, a Gaussian Mixture Model is utilized by the method and system to distinguish between normal and abnormal passenger behavior. Cluster components of the Gaussian Mixture Model are advantageously learned using an unsupervised approach in which training data is not labeled or annotated to indicate normal and abnormal passenger behavior. In this way, the Gaussian Mixture Model can be trained at a very low cost.

  • Patent number: 11036588
Abstract: Techniques for providing redundancy between physical and virtual entities in a hyper-converged infrastructure are disclosed. In one example, a management node may include a physical to virtual redundancy module to identify a physical entity with configuration data in a hyper-converged infrastructure as a primary entity, determine an equivalent virtual entity corresponding to the physical entity, and deploy the equivalent virtual entity in a compute node of the hyper-converged infrastructure. Further, the physical to virtual redundancy module may apply the configuration data associated with the physical entity to the deployed equivalent virtual entity and designate the equivalent virtual entity as a fail-over entity to provide redundancy in an event of failure of the physical entity.

  • Patent number: 11032295
Abstract: Techniques for provisioning of digital certificates in software defined data centers (SDDCs) based on security monitoring information are disclosed. In one example, a set of digital certificates may be assigned to a group of computing resources of an SDDC. Each digital certificate may include a different security level. The group of computing resources may include applications that use a first digital certificate with a first security level for data communication. Further, security monitoring information associated with the group of computing resources may be received. Furthermore, a second security level to be used for the group of computing resources may be determined based on the security monitoring information. The group of computing resources may be managed by communicating the second security level to an agent associated with the group of computing resources. The agent may then implement a second digital certificate with the second security level for the applications.

  • Publication number: 20210157265
Abstract: In some implementations, an optical master is created by using a nanoimprint alignment layer to pattern a liquid crystal layer. The nanoimprint alignment layer and the liquid crystal layer constitute the optical master. The optical master is positioned above a photo-alignment layer. The optical master is illuminated and light propagating through the nanoimprinted alignment layer and the liquid crystal layer is diffracted and subsequently strikes the photo-alignment layer. The incident diffracted light causes the pattern in the liquid crystal layer to be transferred to the photo-alignment layer. A second liquid crystal layer is deposited onto the patterned photo-alignment layer, which subsequently is used to align the molecules of the second liquid crystal layer.

  • Publication number: 20210144065
Abstract: A device monitors, for a software-defined networking wide area network (SD-WAN) deployment, a set of virtualized network services of the SD-WAN deployment, and applies a set of diagnostic tests to evaluate the set of virtualized network services. The device detects, based on monitoring the set of virtualized network services and in connection with applying the set of diagnostic tests, an event associated with a virtualized network service. The device analyzes, using an analytics model of SD-WAN operation, the event to identify an issue associated with the virtualized network service, and determines, based on the analytics model of SD-WAN operation, a recommendation relating to remediating the issue. The device generates an abstraction layer user interface to represent the set of virtualized network services and to convey the recommendation relating to remediating the issue, and implements, after providing the abstraction layer user interface, the recommendation to remediate the issue.

  • Publication number: 20210143642
Abstract: There is provided a method of operating a renewable power plant that is connected to a wider power network by a bus. The method comprises: identifying a predetermined voltage condition of the renewable power plant or of the bus; controlling the renewable power plant to maintain zero reactive power exchange at the bus for a first period; calculating an average voltage level of the bus that was achieved during the first period; and controlling the renewable power plant to maintain the voltage output at a set voltage level for a second period, the set voltage level being substantially equal to the calculated average voltage level. The method ensures that voltage oscillations due to a push-pull phenomenon between a power plant controller and the power network do not upset the stability of the grid.

  • Patent number: 11005729
Abstract: In general, the disclosure describes techniques for assigning traffic originating from an unknown application to a link based on known application quality of experience metrics. For instance, a network device may receive an application data packet of a data flow for an application and determine an application signature of the application data packet. The network device may determine whether the application signature matches an entry in an application signature database, and if the application signature does not match, the network device may identify a class of the application based on one or more characteristics of the application data packet. The network device may then assign the application data packet of the data flow to a first link of a plurality of links based on the class of the application and quality of experience (QoE) metrics for each link.

  • Publication number: 20210132394
Abstract: A display device includes a waveguide assembly comprising a waveguide configured to outcouple light out of a major surface of the waveguide to form an image in the eyes of a user. An adaptive lens assembly has a major surface facing the output surface and a waveplate lens and a switchable waveplate assembly. The switchable waveplate assembly includes quarter-wave plates on opposing sides of a switchable liquid crystal layer, and electrodes on the quarter-wave plates in the volume between the quarter-wave plates. The electrodes can selectively establish an electric field and may serve as an alignment structure for molecules of the liquid crystal layer. Portions of the adaptive lens assembly may be manufactured by roll-to-roll processing in which a substrate roll is unwound, and alignment layers and liquid crystal layers are formed on the substrate as it moves towards a second roller, to be wound on that second roller.

  • Patent number: 10999316
Abstract: Cyber resiliency of application data is provided. An air gapped network is established for storing a point-in-time copy of application data corresponding to a workload running on a production infrastructure to decrease continuous network exposure of the point-in-time copy on a secondary infrastructure. A set of point-in-time copies is selected for testing the application data corresponding to the workload for validation on the secondary infrastructure. The set of point-in-time copies are validated on a periodic basis by applying cyberattack forensics, deep scanning, malware detection, and application level validation tests. An appropriate point-in-time copy is identified in the set of point-in-time copies to recover the application data corresponding to the workload. The application data corresponding to the workload are recovered to provide the cyber resiliency of the application data during cyberattack using the appropriate point-in-time copy.
