  • Publication number: 20030226808
Abstract: Treating a water system containing or in contact with a metal sulphide scale to inhibit, prevent, reduce, dissolve or disperse iron sulphide deposits. A solution of tris(hydroxyorgano)phosphines (THP) and tetrakis(hydroxyorgano)phosphonium salts (THP+ salts) and sufficient of a chelant (amino-carboxylates or amino-phosphonates) to provide a solution containing from 0.1 to 50% by weight of said THP or THP+ salt and from 0.1 to 50% by weight of said chelant, is contacted with the metal sulphide scale thereby to dissolve at least part of said scale in said solution.

  • Patent number: 6482483
Abstract: A composition comprising tris(hydroxymethyl)phosphine or phosphorus-containing salts or condensates of those salts with nitrogen-containing compounds coated or absorbed onto a solid or porous substrate is disclosed. The salts or condensates are based on tetrakis(hydroxymethyl)phosphonium salts. The substrate has a melting point greater than 70° C. and is an optionally hydroxyl-substituted di- or polycarboxylic acid. The compositions may be used with water soluble film forming polymers to make sachets or bags containing sachets or bags of these phosphorous-containing compositions along with sachets or bags of compositions that are incompatible with these phosphorous-containing compositions.

  • Patent number: 6241278
Abstract: A vehicle passenger safety restraint arrangement where an inflatable cushion mounted in a vehicle roof is operatively connected to an inflator which inflates the inflatable cushion in the event of an accident. The inflator is conveniently positioned in the roof space adjacent to the front reinforcement rail and can be attached to the rail by a deformable bracket so that the inflator may move relative to the bracket to soften the impact if a passenger collides with the inflator during an accident.

  • Patent number: 5207920
Abstract: A highly versatile fluids and particulate separator that can be used in a centrifugal mode or centrifugal with gas flotation mode without the use of rotating apparatus within the cell. A pump and recirculation system provide the means for centrifugal force and gas flotation. A buoyant self adjusting discharge assembly with a vortex of fluids surrounding it provide the exit path for separated light fluids and light particles. In oil and water separation the buoyant assembly allows self discharge of the oil and can be used with high oil to water ratios at high volume. Oil spill cleanup is possible. Conversely gas flotation may be used for low volume separating applications.

  • Patent number: 5011143
Abstract: A tennis serve training device having a height adjustment secured to a tennis court post by brackets. A target support arm extends horizontally from the upper end from the post and attached thereto by an elastic strap hinge. A target is attached to the outer end of the support arm and when struck by a racket will cause the support arm to swing in a horizontal plane and come to rest in its original position. A foot mat is placed beneath the target as a reference point for a player to stand for a proper position when hitting the target in preparation to practice hitting a serve.

  • Patent number: 4945353
Abstract: A system whereby the operating power for a series of sensor elements and their status may be reported along a single twisted pair connecting line. The connecting line is protected from addition or deletion of the required sensors to insure the security of the connections. The system has the ability to determine the connection of added sensors, even when they share common identification information.

  • Patent number: 4912691
Abstract: This invention is directed at a video stabilizer which removes non standard AGC pulses added to a video signal for inhibiting the making of acceptable video recordings of the video signal which includes filtering out the horizontal synchronizing signals form the composite synchronization signal, while passing the vertical synchronizing signal; differentiating the vertical synchronizing signals; applying the differentiated signal to a first electronic device; turning the first electronic device off at the end of the vertical synchronizing signal and charging the first capacitor providing a first ramp voltage; applying the first ramp voltage to a first pair of comparator amplifiers; applying the output signal of the first pair of comparator amplifiers to a first amplifier shunting a poriton of the output signal through a first diode array and the remaining portion of the output signal to charging a second capacitor providing a second ramp voltage; the second ramp voltage being applied to a second amplifier; the

  • Patent number: 4838366
Abstract: A drill bit for drilling holes in earth formations including a bit body having an integral shank for connection to a drilling machine stem and integral radial mounting wings for supporting removable cutter blades, and a removable cutter blade secured on each wing, each cutter blade having a tungsten carbide front drilling face arranged at a negative rake angle and an outside side face having a forward cutting edge of tungsten carbide and a relieve angle extending rearwardly and inwardly toward the axis of the bit for minimizing the mass of the bit exposed to the bore hole wall during drilling for reducing the temperature of bit. The bit has a longitudinal bore and lateral angular bores for air drilling fluid.

  • Patent number: 4515485
Abstract: A molten metal sample cup is provided with a temperature sensor to detect phase change in molten metal within the cup as the sample solidifies. A blob of material which promotes the formation of carbides is disposed within the cup. The exposed surface of the blob is limited by locating the blob within a recess in a bottom wall of a cavity so that the exposed surface of the blob is a predetermined uniform amount which is less than the total surface of the blob.

  • Patent number: 4361053
Abstract: The sampler includes two refractory body sections with two metal plates extending between and interconnecting the sections into a rigid unit. Said metal plates define two walls of a sampling chamber. Refractory surfaces define the remaining walls of said chamber. A first thermocouple is provided in the chamber for sensing the liquidus temperature as the sample cools and a second thermocouple senses bath temperature.

  • Patent number: 4078113
Abstract: A method for producing transparent or pigmented films from resin particles, of a particular class of laurolactam containing polyamide copolymers and/or terpolymer, said film suitable as a coating and/or heat melt adhesive for fabrics and other materials. The method comprises drying the resin while in the solid state until it is substantially water free, extruding the dried resin particles while heating to a temperature sufficient to volatilize and drive off unreacted monomer contaminants, but below the degradation temperature of the resin, expelling the molten resin from the extruder onto heated, sheeting dye means to form a film therefrom, dropping the film onto a substrate backing material, and running the film and backing through a roller to achieve a uniform and controlled thickness.
