  • Patent number: 8065484
Abstract: Enhanced access data available in a cache. In one embodiment, a cache maintaining copies of source data is formed as a volatile memory. On receiving a request directed to the cache for a copy of a data element, the requested copy maintained in the cache is sent as a response to the request. In another embodiment used in the context of applications accessing databases in a navigational model, a cache maintains rows of data accessed by different user applications on corresponding connections. Applications may send requests directed to the cache to retrieve copies of the rows, populated potentially by other applications, while the cache restricts access to rows populated by other applications when processing requests directed to the source database system. In another embodiment, an application may direct requests to retrieve data elements caused to be populated by activity on different connections established by the same application.

  • Patent number: 8063251
Abstract: A process for the preparation of optically pure R (?) salbutamol of formula (6) and its pharmaceutically acceptable salts by using a (+) 4-nitro tartranilic acid as the resolving agent and a binary solvent system comprising alkyl acetate and C1 to C4 branched or normal chain alcohol for dissolution of the racemic mixture and resolving agent and purification of the 4-nitro tartranilic acid salt of R (?) salbutamol. 4-nitro tartranilic acid salt of R (?) salbutamol is converted into formic acid salt of R (?) 4-benzyl salbutamol followed by basification and debenzylation to form optically pure R (?) salbutamol. Optically pure (R)-salbutamol is obtained in good yield and high purity. The optically pure R (?) salbutamol is optionally converted into pharmaceutically acceptable salts.

  • Publication number: 20110280303
Abstract: Techniques and tools are described for flexible range reduction of samples of video. For example, an encoder signals a first set of one or more syntax elements for range reduction of luma samples and signals a second set of one or more syntax elements for range reduction of chroma samples. The encoder selectively scales down the luma samples and chroma samples in a manner consistent with the first syntax element(s) and second syntax element(s), respectively. Or, an encoder signals range reduction syntax element(s) in an entry point header for an entry point segment, where the syntax element(s) apply to pictures in the entry point segment. If range reduction is used for the pictures, the encoder scales down samples of the pictures. Otherwise, the encoder skips the scaling down. A decoder performs corresponding parsing and scaling up operations.

  • Patent number: 8059721
Abstract: Techniques and tools are described for compensating for rounding when estimating sample-domain distortion in the transform domain. For example, a video encoder estimates pixel-domain distortion in the transform domain for a block of transform coefficients after compensating for rounding in the DC coefficient of the block. In this way, the video encoder improves the accuracy of pixel-domain distortion estimation but retains the computational advantages of performing the estimation in the transform domain. Rounding compensation includes, for example, looking up an index (from a de-quantized transform coefficient) in a rounding offset table to determine a rounding offset, then adjusting the coefficient by the offset. Other techniques and tools described herein are directed to creating rounding offset tables and encoders that make encoding decisions after considering rounding effects that occur after an inverse frequency transform on de-quantized transform coefficient values.

  • Patent number: 8060542
Abstract: A server instance, which is a collection of LUNs, containing an operating system, any applications and data storage. A processing element is the physical hardware. The combination is a server as normally understood. Templates are used to define server instances and server types to simplify deploying a server instance to a processing element. A graphical user interface provides the templates where the particular storage groups are identified and then server instances are created from lists of operating systems, applications, and available storage. The management service processor is a PXE server and provides the necessary software to identify the components of the processing element and correlate between the processing element and a server instance. The management service processor then automatically provides software to the processing element to allow it correctly boot. The management service processor manages the interconnection of the processing element and the relevant LUNs.

  • Publication number: 20110276333
Abstract: Systems and methods of synchronizing media are provided. A client device may be used to capture a sample of a media stream being rendered by a media rendering source. The client device sends the sample to a position identification module to determine a time offset indicating a position in the media stream corresponding to the sampling time of the sample, and optionally a timescale ratio indicating a speed at which the media stream is being rendered by the media rendering source based on a reference speed of the media stream. The client device calculates a real-time offset using a present time, a timestamp of the media sample, the time offset, and optionally the timescale ratio. The client device then renders a second media stream at a position corresponding to the real-time offset to be in synchrony to the media stream being rendered by the media rendering source.

  • Publication number: 20110276414
Abstract: A method and a system for performing an online payment related activity using a browser application. The browser application interfaces a bill pay website with one or more biller websites to which the online payment needs to be made. When a user logs-in to the bill pay website, the browser application is activated. The user then selects a biller from a list of billers pre-stored at the bill pay website. The browser application automatically navigates the user to a biller website of the selected biller, while concurrently maintaining a communication link to the bill pay website. The browser application then enters payment information on the one or more payment related web pages displayed at the biller website. After the online payment related activity is completed, and the user is navigated back to the bill pay website without the need for a user input.

  • Patent number: 8054886
Abstract: Rules for the signaling and interpretation of chroma position are described. One rule, called the short rule, defines fifteen discrete chroma centering positions and corresponding four-bit syntax element. Another rule, called the extended rule, defines 81 discrete chroma centering positions and corresponding seven-bit syntax elements. A described method includes receiving digital media data at a digital media encoder, determining chroma position information for the received digital media data, and representing the chroma position information with one or more syntax elements in an encoded bitstream. The one or more syntax elements are operable to communicate the chroma position information to a digital media decoder. The chroma position information facilitates an image rotation or flip.

  • Publication number: 20110264648
Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards managing a display of search results by employing a query-classification for a search query to selectively display trust search results that are displayed distinct from non-trust search results. A search query is classified into a query-class. A search is then performed over non-trust sources, and selectively over trust data sources to obtain non-trust and trust search results, respectively. The trust search results are rank ordered based on various categories of search criteria, including, for example, explicit and implicit relationships. Based on the query-class, a different number of trust search results may be displayed. Further, a position for which the trust search results may be displayed may be based on the query-class. Moreover, the non-trust search results displayed distinct or separate from the trust search results to readily distinguish a type of source of the search results.
