  • Publication number: 20190370117
Abstract: For accessing files from block-level backups of a virtual disk, a system, method, computer program product and apparatus are disclosed. The system includes an apparatus with a changed block module that determines changed blocks between a previous and a current block-level backup of a virtual disk. A mapping module maps logical clusters of the virtual disk to the changed blocks and identifies files corresponding to the logical clusters. A changed file module designates files corresponding to the logical clusters as changed files, unless current attributes of files for the current backup match attributes of the files in a backup file index corresponding to the previous backup. The changed file module stores the current attributes and extents for changed files within blocks of a backup storage device for updating in the backup file index. The method and computer program product perform these functions and may use the system and the apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20190372674
Abstract: A method selects a phase shift profile to be applied to a programmable optical phase shift modulator having an array of pixels. A base stepped phase shift profile for the modulator is selected such that when applied to the modulator, the base stepped phase shift profile allows the modulator to function as a blazed grating steering an optical beam through a prescribed angle. The base stepped phase shift profile has a plurality of segments each extending over a given number of the pixels defining a linear array of pixels. Each segment has first and last pixels in the linear array of pixels. Variations in minimum and maximum luminosity levels among the segments of the base stepped phase shift profile are reduced so that any changes to a slope of each segment arising from reducing the variations in the minimum and maximum luminosity level is maintained below a given amount.

  • Publication number: 20190367111
Abstract: A load transporting apparatus is configured to move a load bearing frame carrying a load over a base surface. A support foot provides a first load bearing surface. A lift mechanism during a step operation raises the support foot off of the base surface, lowers the support foot onto the base surface, and raise the load off of the base surface. A first travel mechanism moves the lift mechanism and attached load along a non-linear horizontal path and a second travel mechanism moves the lift mechanism along a different horizontal path. A control system operates the first travel mechanism and the second travel mechanism to move the lift mechanism along a selected horizontal path.

  • Publication number: 20190367823
Abstract: The disclosure is directed to a system and method of hydrocarbon desulfurization utilizing a liquid sorbent. The system includes a plurality of vessel pair assemblies, each of which includes a reaction vessel and a settling vessel. Hydrocarbon fuel having a sulfur content is mixed with a catalyst and an oxidant in each of the reaction vessels along with a sorbent and then transferred to the settling vessel for separating the hydrocarbon fuel having a sulfur content from the sorbent, the sorbent removing the oxidized portion of the sulfur from the hydrocarbon fuel. The sorbent is transferred from the second settling vessel to the first reaction vessel, while the hydrocarbon fuel having a sulfur content is transferred from the first settling vessel to the second reaction vessel so as to travel in opposing directions. Methods and other systems are likewise disclosed.
