  • Publication number: 20140200127
Abstract: A system for producing packaging cushioning generally includes a cushion conversion machine and a supply structure for a stack of fan-folded sheet stock material. The structure is positioned relative to the machine to supply thereto the fan-folded sheet stock material for conversion thereof into packaging cushioning, and includes an inclined, load-bearing support. The load-bearing support includes a base and a riser extending upwardly from the base, the base and the riser being structured and arranged to cooperatively accommodate the stack of fan-folded sheet stock material such that the sheet stock material is supplied to the cushion conversion machine from a top of the stack and a bottom of the stack is supported by the base. The riser is inclined at an angle relative to vertical such that the stack of fan-folded sheet stock material is also inclined at the angle, whereby, the stack is urged against the riser by force of gravity.

  • Publication number: 20140200196
Abstract: A wound care dressing that combines a sodium alginate hydrogel spread and a calcium solution spray to create a transparent membrane over damaged skin eliminating the need for a secondary dressing. The calcium dissolved in alcohol displaces sodium from the hydrogel spread, resulting in the formation of the membrane. The membrane decreases healing time by fostering hemostasis, a moist wound healing environment and absorption of exudate and blood from the wound. The membrane also provides an immediate cooling effect for the damaged skin. Once the wound is cleaned, the user applies the hydrogel and covers it with a mist of spray which creates a film layer. The membrane is transparent and flexible such that the skin surface is still visible and the membrane will not be dislodged as the skin is manipulated. The dried surface of the membrane is not tacky, eliminating the need for a secondary dressing.

  • Publication number: 20140197265
Abstract: A driven layon roller apparatus for a plastic film or sheet winder is driven in rotation by a magnetic coupling. The magnetic coupling allows for torque to be transmitted to the layon roller of the apparatus to rotate the layon roller while adding little or no inertia and imposing little or no radial force to the layon roller as the layon roller moves position relative to the winder.

Abstract: A method of treating a copper containing structure on a substrate is disclosed. The method includes electrodepositing the copper containing structure on a substrate, annealing the copper containing structure, and forming an interface between a pad of the copper containing structure and a solder structure after anneal. The interface can have improved resistance to interfacial voiding. The copper containing structure is configured to deliver current between one or more ports and one or more solder structures in the integrated circuit package. • Publication number: 20140201583
Abstract: The apparatus and methods allow random hardware failure emulation of an integrated circuit (IC) by emulation of potential defects to enable behavior evaluation of the rest of the design in such situation. This emulation can non-intrusively address multiple points of failure. The emulation is performed in a pseudo-functional mode in order to evaluate the IC behavior in its standard functional mode. The system allows creation of a failure, and tracking both the detection of this failure and the required time for this detection. The system further allows generation of a failure in different points of the IC, on a single or multipoint failure approaches. Failure detection and correction mechanisms for a product life cycle are therefore provided. In an embodiment the system checks the conformity of the safety function of an IC, and makes sure the safety control logic behaves as expected in case of data corruption in any register.

  • Patent number: 8780997
Abstract: This invention is directed to a method for decoding coded video data in which decoder performance is regulated based on perceptual masking. The method includes, upon receipt of coded video data, applying the coded video data to a multi-stage decoding process; computing perceptual masking measures for the coded video data; and switching a stage of the decoding process to a lower performance level based on the computed perceptual masking measures. The method may be applied to non-reference frames and reference frames with low numbers of dependent frames. The method provides scalability among decoders to allow for various decoder and/or coded data complexity.

  • Patent number: 8779980
Abstract: A method of determining an indication of the position of an electronic device. The method includes: obtaining (100) information relating to a radio signal received by the device. The received radio signal are transmissions from one or more satellites of a satellite-positioning system from which information an inference can be made about the true position of the device at the time the signal was received. The method also involves obtaining (110) a plurality of hypotheses about the true position of the device; and evaluating (120, 130, 140) the plurality of hypotheses by assessing a degree of consistency between the information relating to the radio signal and the hypotheses. • Patent number: 8780147
Abstract: A printer for printing on a semiporous recording medium includes a dryer adapted to dry the semiporous recording medium to a moisture content not to exceed that of the recording medium equilibrated to 20% RH. A liquid-deposition unit deposits hydrophilic liquid in a selected fluid pattern on the recording medium within 15 seconds after the completion of drying. A charging member charges the recording medium so that a charge pattern of charged and discharged areas is formed on the recording medium and the charged areas have a potential of at least 100 V. A development station deposits charged dry ink on the medium, the dry ink having charge of the same sign as the charged areas, so that the charged dry ink is deposited on the paper in a dry ink pattern corresponding to the selected fluid pattern.
