  • Publication number: 20190209251
Abstract: A tele-operated system includes a platform, a manipulator supported by the platform, a support structure supporting the platform, and a processor. In a platform movement mode the processor is configured to sense a manual movement of a link of the manipulator relative to the platform that moves the link from a first to a second positional relationship relative to the platform wherein a difference between the first and second positional relationships includes a displacement having components in first, second, and third directions that are perpendicular to one another, calculate, in response to the sensed manual movement, a command for the support structure that causes the link to move in the first direction so as to reduce the displacement in the first direction and does not change the displacement in the second direction, and transmit the command to the support structure so as to move the platform and the manipulator.

  • Publication number: 20190214540
Abstract: A solid state energy conversion device along with its production methods and systems of use is provided. The device in its most basic form consists of two layers, in contact with each other, of dissimilar materials in terms of electron density and configuration, sandwiched between metal layers, which serve as the anode and cathode of the device. One example, of the inside layers, is when a carbon and an ionic material layer (carbon matrix) is contacted with, the other inner material, consisting of an oxide mixed with an ionic material (oxide matrix). This device takes advantage of the built-in potential that forms across the barrier between the carbon matrix and the oxide matrix. The built-in potential of the device (when not attached to a resistive load at the terminals), which is determined mathematically by integrating the electrostatic forces that have created themselves across the barrier, will rise or fall in direct proportion to the rise and fall of the device temperature (in kelvins).

  • Publication number: 20190211815
Abstract: A lubrication bypass system is disclosed for controlling flow of a lubricant to a reciprocating machine, such as two-stroke engines and two-stroke compressors, based upon one or more operating parameters. The lubrication bypass system can be positioned in fluid communication with a lubrication system that transports a primary flow of the lubricant from a lubricant reservoir to the reciprocating machine cylinder at a predetermined primary flow rate. The lubrication bypass system can be configured to divert a portion of the primary flow, a bypass flow, from the lubrication system at a bypass flow rate based upon the operating parameters. As a result, a secondary flow of lubricant remaining within the lubrication system can be supplied to the reciprocating machine at a secondary flow rate that is less than the primary flow rate. In this manner, the lubrication bypass system can regulate the secondary flow rate.

  • Patent number: 10347834
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure propose two methods for integrating vacancy centers (VCs) on semiconductor substrates for forming VC-based spin qubit devices. The first method is based on using a self-assembly process for integrating VC islands on a semiconductor substrate. The second method is based on using a buffer layer of a III-N semiconductor material over a semiconductor substrate, and then integrating VC islands in an insulating carbon-based material such as diamond that is either grown as a layer on the III-N buffer layer or grown in the openings formed in the III-N buffer layer. Integration of VC islands on semiconductor substrates typically used in semiconductor manufacturing according to any of these methods may provide a substantial improvement with respect to conventional approaches to building VC-based spin qubit devices and may promote wafer-scale integration of VC-based spin qubits for use in quantum computing devices.
