  • Patent number: 9410498
Abstract: A method is disclosed for operating a high-pressure accumulator fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle which has a stop-start automatic function by way of which the internal combustion engine can be switched off and restarted afterwards independent of the intervention of the driver of the motor vehicle, the fuel being conveyed to the high-pressure accumulator as needed by means of a high-pressure pump and the pressure of the fuel being adjusted on the pressure side by means of a pressure control valve which is electrically actuated and open when de-energized. According to the method, the supply with power of the pressure control valve is adapted to the prevailing pressure in the high-pressure accumulator during a stop phase within a stop-start cycle.

  • Patent number: 9411073
Abstract: The calculation of the variance of a correlation coefficient matrix for a photovoltaic fleet can be completed in linear space as a function of decreasing distance between pairs of photovoltaic plant locations. When obtaining irradiance data from a satellite imagery source, irradiance statistics must first be converted from irradiance statistics for an area into irradiance statistics for an average point within a pixel in the satellite imagery. The average point statistics are then averaged across all satellite pixels to determine the average across the whole photovoltaic fleet region. Where pairs of photovoltaic systems are located too far away from each other to be statistically correlated, the correlation coefficients in the matrix for that pair of photovoltaic systems are effectively zero. Consequently, the double summation portion of the calculation can be simplified to eliminate zero values based on distance between photovoltaic plant locations, substantially decreasing the size of the problem space.

  • Patent number: 9409323
Abstract: A bead-forming apparatus and method for its use are described. The bead-forming apparatus includes a base with a pair of legs extending from a top surface. First ends of the legs couple to respective eccentric elements. The eccentric elements removeably and rotatably couple to a platen. Second ends of the legs are rotatably and slideably mated with a gear train disposed within the base. The legs are slideably translatable into the base and the gear train maintains a rotational orientation of the legs and the eccentric elements coupled thereto. The platen is thus moveable through a circular path defined by the rotation of the eccentric elements and legs. As such, a plug of moldable material placed between the base and the platen and in contact with the platen, is formed into a double-cone shape by movement of the platen through the circular path.
