Patent number: 6354428Abstract: A conveyor belt scraping apparatus comprises a blade having a blade edge biased against a conveyor belt. The blade is supported at its base and has a blade body extending from the base to support the blade edge. The scraper blade body has a substantially rectangular recess in the base adapted for frictional mounting on a flange for engaging the surface of a conveyor belt for scraping material therefrom. A blade assembly of the present invention includes a mounting having a plurality of radial flanges and one or more scraper blades each having a blade body with an edge distal from its base and at least one substantially rectangular recess in the base frictionally mounted on at least one of the plurality of flanges, but not in mechanical locking engagement thereto.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 2000Date of Patent: March 12, 2002Assignee: ASGCO Manufacturing, Inc.Inventors: A. Todd Gibbs, George T. Mott

Patent number: 6315105Abstract: A conveyor belt scraping apparatus comprises a blade having a blade edge biased against a conveyor belt. The blade is supported at its base and has a web extending from the base to support the blade edge. The web has at least one groove therein substantially parallel to the blade edge to define a tensioning region at the narrowed region of the web, whereby the blade may be biased and tensioned without need for external biasing and tensioning arrangements. Preferably, there are plural grooves in the web. Also preferably, the plural grooves are of different sizes so as to provide a progressive rate to the spring characteristic of the tensioning region of the web. In addition, a groove may have a cushioning material therein so as to provide cushioning of the blade.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 1999Date of Patent: November 13, 2001Assignee: ASGCO Manufacturing, Inc.Inventors: A. Patent number: 6182816Abstract: An improved blade for a scraper assembly used with the head pulley of a conveyor system. The improved conveyor blade has a metal base adapted to telescopically engage a rectangular plate projecting radially from a support shaft mounted for rotation about a rotary axis parallel to the head pulley axis, the metal base having sheet-like outer walls disposed in spaced parallel relation from a receptacle for the elastomeric body of the blade. The blade has an under surface confronting the head pulley which projects past the plane of the innermost wall of the metallic base and terminates in a tip engaging the belt on the head pulley.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 1998Date of Patent: February 6, 2001Assignee: Asgco Manufacturing, Inc.Inventors: A. Patent number: 6152290Abstract: A conveyor belt cleaner is provided having a scraper blade arranged transversely on the lower run of the belt. The scraper blade can have at least one blade or a plurality of blades pivotally connected together. A shaping element having a non-linear configuration adjusts the profile of the scraper blade to match the configuration of the shaping bar. A biasing element connected with the vertical controller biases the scraper blade towards the belt maintaining the scraper blade in contact with the belt. A vertical controller raises and lowers the position of the scraper blade to provide for angular adjustment of the scraper blade relative to the belt.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 1998Date of Patent: November 28, 2000Assignee: Asgco Manufacturing, Inc.Inventors: George T. Mott, A. Todd Gibbs

Patent number: 5117970Abstract: A one-piece replacement sleeve is provided for installation on a conveyor belt roller to prolong the roller's wear life. The cylindrical, split sleeve has a central bore to receive the roller and circumferential grooves in the outer surface to receive fastening circlets to fasten the sleeve to the roller. The sleeve has two radial slits oppositely disposed and extending axially along the entire length of the sleeve to facilitate easy installation and replacement of the sleeve. The slits allow the sleeve to be installed on the roller without the need to remove the roller from its journal mountings. The slits also allow the worn sleeve to be quickly and easily removed by cutting or otherwise removing the fastening circlets. Since the sleeve is formed of one piece of material, the sleeve wears concentrically, reducing vibrations in the conveyor belt assembly. The sleeve provides significant improvements over roller discs and two-piece roller sleeves in the prior art.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 1991Date of Patent: June 2, 1992Assignee: Asgco Manufacturing, Inc.Inventor: A. Patent number: 5016746Abstract: An apparatus for scraping conveyor belts having a plurality of resilient scraping blades dependent on each other for lateral support and pivotal stability, but capable of individually flexing away from the belt surface. Each blade is positioned in side-by-side abutting relation across the width of the conveyor belt, and sufficiently thick to prevent blade twisting or turning by providing mutual support for the abutting blade or blades. The blades extend into angled engagement with the belt to shave debris from the belt surface. Each blade is mounted on a single trailing arm which is disposed within a tensioning blade support element to allow independent flexing of the blades away from but not towards the belt surface. The support elements are set in a longitudinal array and mounted for rotation on a shaft positioned transversely and in spaced relation to the belt surface.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 1990Date of Patent: May 21, 1991Assignee: ASGCO Manufacturing, Inc.Inventor: A. Patent number: 5011002Abstract: A trailing arm scraper assembly for a conveyor belt having an arm extending generally in the direction or normal travel of the belt, and a scraper blade mounted at one end of said trailing arm in a home position having a scraping edge forcibly engaging said belt surface. A blade-mounting block at the end of the arm has a stud element releasably mounting said scraper blade for replacement, and affording pivotal movement of said blade about a blade axis substantially parallel to its scraping edge. The scraper blade has resilient abutments to engage the blade-mounting block to yieldingly resist pivotal movement of said blade away from its home position upon encountering an obstruction on the belt surface as it travels past the blade, and to return said blade to its home position upon travel of the obstruction beyond the blade. The abutments allow greater pivotal movement when obstructions are carried by the belt traveling in a direction reverse to its normal travel.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 1990Date of Patent: April 30, 1991Assignee: ASGCO Manufacturing, Inc.Inventor: A. Patent number: 4962845Abstract: A belt scraper for cleaning the conveyor belt on a cylindrical pulley including a plurality of scraping blades having transverse scraping edges at the leading end of the blade side surface which faces the conveyor belt. The side surfaces are tangential to and resiliently against the belt by a transverse rotary shaft parallel to the scraping edge. A separate blade support element connects each blade to the shaft so that the blades extend across the belt width, and includes a torsion element providing an additional point of rotation between the scraping blade and the rotary shaft located transverse to force the blade to pivot away from the belt surface upon impact by an object moving with the belt into engagement with the blade against the scraping edge.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 1989Date of Patent: October 16, 1990Assignee: ASGCO Manufacturing, Inc.Inventor: A.
