  • Patent number: 8523718
Abstract: Arrow vanes, devices and methods for improving arrow vane airfoils for compound arrows, crossbow arrows and traditional arrows, which improves flight characteristics over traditionally manufactured, configured and/or applied vanes. Compound bends in the base of the vanes can be done by clamping the vanes in a channel having a generally straight portion and a generally bent portion. The bent portion can have a helical right bend or a helical left bend. A fletching jig can be used to glue the compound bent bases of the vanes to sides of an arrow shaft.

  • Publication number: 20130227100
Abstract: A high availability and load balanced content delivery system and method. A cloud computing content delivery system is provided including multiple content delivery servers (CDSs) configured to deliver content to multiple client devices. The client devices are configured to maintain a source list identifying the multiple CDSs and a primary CDS. The client devices send requests (e.g., yum requests) to the CDS for the mirror list. The client device then uses the mirror list and sends content requests to a first entry on the mirror list. Each CDS is configured to update the mirror list by applying a load balancing algorithm and provide the mirror list to a client device in the event that one or more CDSs are unavailable.

  • Publication number: 20130227327
Abstract: An electrical current (“EC”) manager module may assign a plurality of hardware elements of the PCD to one of two groups. The EC manager module may monitor individual electrical current levels of one of the groups as well as calculate an instantaneous electrical current level for the PCD based on a current charge status for the PCD. The EC manager module may then adjust operation of at least one hardware element to keep operation of the PCD below the calculated instantaneous electrical current level for the PCD. The EC manager module may estimate an electrical current level for one of the groups based on requests issued to hardware elements. The EC manager module may also compare the calculated instantaneous electrical current level to the monitored electrical current level. The calculated instantaneous electrical current level may be compared to minimum current levels listed in a table.

  • Publication number: 20130222444
Abstract: A color printer for histological specimen containers such as slides and cassettes includes a specimen container receiving structure to receive histological specimen containers having a print zone, an ink receiving structure to receive a multi-colored ink source, a printhead, a drive mechanism to drive specimen containers received by the container receiving structure with respect to the print head, and a control system. The control system is responsive to specimen data representative of histological specimens and controls the drive mechanism and the printhead, including causing the print head to transfer multiple colors of ink from the ink source and print specimen information in color on the print zones of specimen containers. In one embodiment of the invention the specimen data includes color data representative of a color that identifies specimen information, and the control system causes the printhead to print the specimen information in color as a function of the color data.

  • Publication number: 20130224446
Abstract: A multi-layer packaging film comprising a bio-based layer and method for making the same. An outer layer comprising a bio-based film is adhered to a product side layer comprising a bio-based film having barrier properties. A non-compostable sealant layer is pattern applied to a portion of the product side layer. Because a portion of the bio-based product side layer is exposed, upon opening of the package the product side layer is susceptible to moisture. This allows for subsequent biodegradation or compostability of the films. In another embodiment the sealant layer comprises a water permeable material. Upon opening of the package moisture can subsequently contact the product side layer and initiate biodegradation.

  • Publication number: 20130220437
Abstract: An automated irrigation purge system utilizes a pressure purge method of discharging compressed air from a reservoir through selected irrigation zones with feedback from pressure switches to determine when to open and close each zone valve. No programming or user interaction is required beyond starting the system. The system can operate with a wide variety of irrigation systems, with varying number of zones, pipe lengths, pipe diameters, number and variety of sprinkler heads or outlets, and terrain slope. The system tracks the pressure transition time from high pressure to low pressure for each zone as it is blown out. When the current transition time is within a specified range from the previous transition time, the system knows the water has been sufficiently purged from that zone. The purge system can protect the irrigation system from high-pressure conditions, handle multiple error conditions, and maintain water valve settings during power loss.
