  • Patent number: 11840130
Abstract: A virtual visor system is disclosed that includes a visor having a plurality of independently operable pixels that are selectively operated with a variable opacity. A camera captures images of the face of a driver or other passenger and, based on the captured images, a controller operates the visor to automatically and selectively darken a limited portion thereof to block the sun or other illumination source from striking the eyes of the driver, while leaving the remainder of the visor transparent. The virtual visor system advantageously adopts a gradient blocking mode for the optical state of the visor that includes a blocker and a transition gradient, which has the effect of making updates to optical state of the visor less distracting. Additionally, the transition gradient in the optical state of the visor makes the virtual visor system more robust against errors in positioning the blocker on the visor.

  • Patent number: 11839915
Abstract: A laser power control method for additive manufacturing includes a pre-processing component and an intra-processing component. The pre-processing component creates in the system controller a machine code expressed additive-path-with-geometry-metadata that includes a path description. The path description represents the path of the beam source on the build and includes a geometry index for the build. The intra-processing component calculates required power for the beam at intervals and events on the beam path based upon the additive-path-with-geometry-metadata and calculations of the energy balance at the melt pool and the total energy for each point P(s) on the path.

  • Patent number: 11839702
Abstract: An embodiment includes a process for treating an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) endoleak with a shape memory polymer (SMP) foam device. First, a bifurcated stent graft is placed within the aneurysm while a micro guidewire is positioned within the aneurysm for future catheter access. Second, after placing the iliac graft extension, a catheter is introduced over wire to deliver embolic foams. Third, embolic foams expand and conform to the aneurysm wall. Fourth, embolic foams create a stable thrombus to prevent endoleak formation by isolating peripheral vessels from the aneurysm volume.
