  • Patent number: 7060949
Abstract: An end seal for a temperature sensing probe. Electrical interface wiring is passed through a restraining element and is operatively coupled to a temperature sensing element or heater element mounted in the sheath. The sheath is formed around the restraining element in a shape that provides a net force inward as temperature variations expand and contract the restraining element.

  • Patent number: 7006433
Abstract: A system and method for transporting IN/AIN signaling (e.g., SS7 signaling) over an IP-based network using Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP), wherein a peer-to-peer protocol adaptation (PPA) structure is provided at a signaling node. The PPA structure includes an interworking functionality between an MTP3 layer and the SCTP messaging, and operates to provide a symmetrical MTP2 adaptation interface therebetween. The PPA interface functionality facilitates the implementation of network management capabilities included in the MTP3 layer such that the advantageous features of SS7 signaling are retained in the SCTP transport. The MTP2 adaptation interface functionality is processed locally with respect to the signaling node, rather than backhauling the associated signaling to an external node via an IP connection.

  • Publication number: 20050027995
Abstract: A network for mediating the peer-to-peer transfer of digital patient medical data includes a plurality of distributed agents each associated with a health care provider and connected to a central system. Periodically the agents collect local information relating to patient medical files and/or data streams, for example diagnostic images and associated reports, and process that information into metadata files acting as pointers to the original files. The metadata files are transmitted to the central system where they are parsed and the attributes are stored on the central system in patient records with records from the same patient grouped together whenever possible. Registered users can search the central system, even in the absence of a unique identifier, to identify patient records pointing to the remote patient medical files.

  • Publication number: 20020088178
Abstract: A hydrogen storage and generation system are disclosed. The fuel source of the present invention comprises a chemical hydride core, and an elongate, flexible moisture barrier encasing the core. The core may be formed by a plurality discrete bodies of NaH or NaBH4, and the barrier may be a thermoplastic. A hydrogen generator of the present invention comprises a reaction chamber, a spool, and a fuel source wrapped around the spool, the fuel source comprising a chemical hydride core encased in an elongate moisture barrier. The generator also has means for removing the barrier from the core to permit the core to react with water or moisture in the reaction chamber. The generator may also have a second reaction chamber so that heat may be transferred from the first reaction chamber to the second reaction chamber for driving a reaction of Al and H2O, thereby generating additional hydrogen.

  • Patent number: 5042651
Abstract: Disclosed is a stand alone disposable display formed from sheet material having an octagonal shaped framed formed from sheet material with cut-outs in the sides thereon for supporting a plurality of removable trays. The cut-outs are formed with portions that fold into the interior of the octagonal shaped frame to add strength and rigidity to the frame. Surface means are provided on the frame for supporting a header on which advertising or printing can be placed. The trays are sized to fit to cooperate with a shipping container to provide loading of the trays without having to handle the products.

  • Patent number: 4867147
Abstract: An oral appliance to prevent further oral injury to comatose patients and the like. This appliance is a flat body of substantially uniform thickness that defines a U-shape. This provides an intra-oral leg for insertion between the occlusal surfaces of the teeth on one side of the patient's mouth. The second leg is extra-oral i.e., for exterior the mouth, with the curved surface between the legs fitting into the corner of the patient's mouth. This construction permits insertion in either side of the mouth, or periodic switching sides to prevent excessive irritation. A tether or lanyard is fastened to the extra-oral leg by providing a perforation near the distal end thereof. In the preferred embodiment, the extra-oral leg is both wider and longer than the intra-oral leg to facilitate manipulation by attending personnel. This appliance does not require impressions or the like, nor does it require extra-sedation of the patient for installation or manipulation.

  • Patent number: 4405251
Abstract: A retaining ring locking device for preventing longitudinal relative movement of a shaft within a bore utilizes a flat or wire retaining ring. A groove is machined on the shaft as well as the bore and an access window is provided on either the shaft or the device containing the bore. The access window extends longitudinally from and beside the ring receiving groove formed by the alignment of the shaft and bore grooves to the exterior of the device and serves as the access point for threadable insertion of the retaining ring. The encapsulated design provides greater strength and eliminates the need for two separate retaining rings to prevent relative movement in two directions.
