Patent number: 9975277Abstract: A method for performing an infrared treatment includes the steps of receiving an extruded product and feeding the extruded product to an oven including at least one lamp unit. The lamp unit includes a lamp, a reflective surface enclosing a first side of the lamp and positioned to direct radiation from the lamp, and a glass disposed between a second side of the lamp and an extruded product, wherein the glass separates the lamp and the extruded product. The method further includes the step of creating cross-linking between layers of the extruded product by directing the radiation at the extruded product. Still further, the method includes the steps of directing a first gas flow at a surface of the product and directing a second gas flow at the glass.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 2016Date of Patent: May 22, 2018Assignee: PEXCOR MANUFACUTRING COMPANY, INC.Inventors: Aarne Heino, Ilya Kaufman

Patent number: 9522496Abstract: The object of the invention is a method to produce plastic pipe where a pipe of two or more layers is extruded and where at least one layer has additive that by heat treatment releases free radicals. Immediately after the extrusion, the pipe is heat treated by leading it either through a hot salt bath or an infra-red radiation so that the mentioned additive decomposes. Now, the layer(s) having additive get cross-linked and additionally the crosslinked layer(s) fix with chemical bonds to at least one other layer. With this method it is possible to produce a plastic pipe where there is no need to use a separate adhesion plastic layer to fix to each other layers that reject each other.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 2012Date of Patent: December 20, 2016Inventor: Aarne Heino

Patent number: 6797741Abstract: The invention relates to a method in connection with processing polymer or elastomer material, wherein additive is added to the polymer or elastomer material, and the additive is subjected to the desired chemical reaction. To minimize energy consumption, infrared radiation is led to the polymer or elastomer material, the wavelength of the radiation being so chosen that the radiation penetrates optimally the polymer or elastomer material, but absorbs in the additive, producing the desired reaction in the additive.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 2001Date of Patent: September 28, 2004Assignee: Maillefer S.A.Inventor: Aarne Heino

Patent number: 4309160Abstract: A method of forming a foam-skin insulation on telephone wires, wherein a homogenuous flow of basic plastic is divided into two separate flows one of which is subjected to mixing with a foam agent while the other, intended to form an outer layer of solid plastic, is bypassed directly to an extruder tool. The apparatus used for the method comprises one single extruder, the extruder head whereof is provided with a flow dividing piece guiding one flow past foam injecting nozzles and the other flow through a separate branch channel to the extruder tool.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 1980Date of Patent: January 5, 1982Assignee: Oy Nokia ABInventors: Matti J.
