  • Publication number: 20210128651
Abstract: In one aspect, probiotic compositions are described herein comprising surface modified microbes operable to adhere or bind to surfaces of the gastrointestinal tract. In some embodiments, for example, a composition for enhancing gastrointestinal health comprises microbes modified with one or more surface moieties, the surface moieties comprising functionality for binding the modified microbes to surfaces of the gastrointestinal tract.

  • Publication number: 20190200664
Abstract: Particulate formulations containing one or more micronutrients such as iron supplements such as ferrous sulfate, fat or oil soluble vitamins such as vitamin A, D, and E, water soluble vitamins such as B vitamin family, and other micronutrients have been developed. These formulations resist oxidation and loss of bioactivity during processing, storage and cooking. The particles include one or more enteric polymers such as pH-sensitive polymers. To prevent oxidation, the iron supplements are encapsulated by a polymer such as hyaluronic acid (“HA”), preferably in a ratio of iron:HA of between 1:4 and 1:10), or mixed with a compound such as vitamin C. The resulting mixture is then dispersed in a solution of a enteric polymer, and manufactured using techniques such as spray drying or spinning disc atomization into particles into particles.

  • Publication number: 20160346327
Abstract: Provided herein are various functionalized particles comprising a shell, dendritic linkers, and functional moieties. The dendrimer linkers allow very large numbers of functional moieties to be bound to the shell. The functional moieties may comprise peptides which synergistically promote platelet aggregation and hemostasis in wounded tissues. The functionalized particles may further be effectors of wound healing, thrombolysis and other functions, depending on the selection of functional moiety. Functionalized polymers having these functions are provided as well.
