Abstract: An adjustable clamp assembly (600) includes an elongated connection member (640) and a gear assembly (650). The gear assembly includes a rotatable first gear member having an axis of rotation substantially perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the connection member (640). The gear assembly also includes a second gear member cooperatively engaged with the first gear member. The clamp assembly further includes a first clamp member (630). The elongated connection member (640), the gear assembly (650) and the first clamp member (630) are arranged such that rotation of the first gear member results in a linear motion of the first clamp member (630) parallel to the longitudinal axis of the connection member (640).

Abstract: An explosively actuated tool for driving a fastener into a substrate is of the type in which the tool is mounted to the end of a pole-like handle to permit manipulation and actuation of the tool from a remote position wherein actuation of the tool occurs by pushing the forward end of a barrel of the tool against the substrate using the handle and then pushing on the handle which loads and then releases the firing mechanism of the tool. A lock device is incorporated to prevent “air firing” of the tool by pushing the handle without the forward end of the barrel being pressed against the substrate. The lock device has a lock member which cooperates with the firing pin or firing pin spring support of the firing mechanism to lock one or other of those components unless the lock member is released by a prior displacement caused by retraction of the barrel when its forward end is pressed against the substrate.

Abstract: A switch mechanism for use in for example a rope switch. The mechanism comprises a switch which is actuable to switch between first and second conditions, for example to turn on and off kinetic machinery. A cam follower actuates the switch, the cam follower bearing against the surface of a rotatably mounted cam. An actuator member is displaceable relative the cam and a linkage is provided between the actuator member and the cam such that displacement of the actuator member from a predetermined position causes the cam to rotate and actuate the switch. The linkage comprises a lever mounted on a pivot that is displaced with the actuator member, the lever co-operating with a surface of a stationary cam such that displacement of the actuator member causes the lever to pivot and rotate the rotatable cam.
