  • Patent number: 6260755
Abstract: A handle structure for a carton is formed within a panel having a opposing side edges and opposing end edges that intersect to form corners of the handle panel, the handle structure. A strap member is integrally conjoined with the handle panel and extends between the end edges. Opposing strap edges are substantially disjoined from the handle panel. The strap member includes a substantially centrally disposed region wherein opposing central strap edge segments of the opposing strap edges are substantially parallel to and mediate the opposing side edges.

  • Patent number: 6131803
Abstract: A handle structure for a carton 12 is formed within a panel 20, 28 having a strap member 14, 44, 46 extending between end edges of the panel. An elongated web 54 extends diagonally from an intersection of side and end edges of the panel. The elongated web 54 includes a perforated line 57 and a score line 56 intermediate the perforated line and the end edge of the panel. A connecting tab 70 lies intermediate the end region of the strap member and foldably interconnects the strap member with a region of the panel that lies between the strap member and one of the side edges of the panel. The perforated line and score line of the elongated web intersect at a point distal the vertex of side and end edges.

  • Patent number: 5996883
Abstract: A carton formed from sheet material for containers such as cans or bottles includes a top wall, a pair of side walls, and a bottom wall interconnected to complete a tubular structure. A notional strip defined along the top wall extends between the end edges of the top wall, and has a width less than the distance between said the side edges of the top wall. A pair of finger apertures are defined in the top panel and disposed along one side of the notional strip, while a thumb aperture is defined in the top panel and disposed along an opposite side of the notional strip. The pair of finger apertures define therebetween a bridge of the sheet material, with the thumb aperture being disposed substantially across the notional strip from said bridge.

  • Patent number: 5788081
Abstract: A multiple product container has at least one tubular compartment disposed adjacent a tray compartment. The tubular compartment has at least one aperture at its top-most portion for extraction of an elongated product and retention of the elongated product in an upright disposition. A tear strip further facilitates removal of the elongated product from the tubular compartment.

  • Patent number: 5655705
Abstract: A partially open wrap-around type carrier is combinable with a tray portion to form a composite carrier. The wrap-around carrier has a central panel flanked by opposing end panels and opposing side panels. One end panel is an end handle panel having hand-hole apertures for forming a handle. Connecting web/gussets respectively connect the end and side panels. One of the connecting webs/gussets includes a web/gusset handle panel wherein the web/gusset handle panel may be folded over into face contacting relationship with the end handle panel to form a multi-ply handle. The hand holes in the end handle panel and in the web/gusset handle panel may be configured to provide handles of different configurations.

  • Patent number: 5595292
Abstract: A carton includes a top panel, a pair of side panels foldably joined to and extending downwardly from the side edges of the top panel, and a strap handle formed in part from the top panel and in part from the side panels. The handle extends transversely across the top panel and is joined at its opposite end portions respectively to the side panels for movement between a stowed position and a raised position. When the handle is in the stowed position, the intermediate portion of the handle is disposed in the plane of the top panel whereas when it is in the raised position, the intermediate portion of the handle is bowed and disposed above the top panel. Each end portion of the handle has a foldable tab adapted to be pressed against an article within the carton and to thereby be folded to allow gradual stress increase in the handle when the handle is pulled upward from the stowed position.

  • Patent number: 5314224
Abstract: A bottle top engaging device is formed from a unitary blank which includes foldably joined main and auxiliary panels. Apertures of keyhole configuration are formed in both the main and auxiliary panels. A connector panel is foldably joined to one side edge of the main panel and is foldably joined on the other side edge to a stabilizing panel in which cutaway areas are formed and which complement the keyhole configuration of the apertures formed in the main and auxiliary panels. The invention is particularly applicable for use in conjunction with heavy duty bottles having flanged necks.
