Patent number: 9690903Abstract: Provided is a method and apparatus for storing content on a portable computer-readable medium. A computer system receives a request to store a medical image and additional data in a different format on the portable computer-readable medium. The medical image and the additional data to be stored are received in a computer memory, and an association is established between the additional data and the medical image so the additional data is stored with the medical image on the portable computer-readable medium. The medical image and the additional data are stored on the portable computer-readable medium with an application that, when executed by a user computer, grants a user access to both the medical image and the additional data on the portable computer-readable medium.Type: GrantFiled: November 28, 2011Date of Patent: June 27, 2017Assignee: CODONICS, INC.Inventors: Aaron A. Bauman, Glenn T. Burke, Rem O. Siekmann

Publication number: 20150134366Abstract: Provided are a medical information importer and method for importing medical information into a network-accessible database. The medical information importer includes a housing includes with an external stand-alone form factor, the housing including an interface for receiving a portable computer-readable medium storing medical information. An information reading component is provided for reading the medical information from the portable computer-readable medium when operatively connected to the interface. A computer-readable memory in communication with the information reading component stores, at least temporarily, the medical information read by the reading component under the direction of a controller. And a network interface connects the medical information importer to a communication network without a local connection between the medical information importer and a computer terminal including a display device for viewing the medical information.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 12, 2015Publication date: May 14, 2015Inventors: Aaron A. Bauman, Garvin Seto, Gary Enos, Gary Keefe, Michael Lustig, Ross Goodman

Publication number: 20120185951Abstract: Provided is an apparatus, system and method for protecting medical output to be stored on a portable computer-readable medium. Access to the medical output is restricted and a key is established to grant access to the medical output stored on the portable computer-readable medium. An identifier is assigned to the portable computer-readable medium and stored on both the portable computer-readable medium and a computer memory. The medical output is stored on the portable computer-readable memory, and access to the medical output on the portable computer-readable medium is restricted, requiring the key for accessing and viewing the medical output. The key is also stored in the computer memory and a relationship associating the identifier with the key is established to enable identification of the key with knowledge of the identifier. A security utility and a medical presentation utility can also be stored on the portable computer-readable medium.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 11, 2010Publication date: July 19, 2012Applicant: CODONICS, INC.Inventors: Aaron A. Bauman, Christopher M. Harley, Alan J. Gilbert, Rem O. Siekmann, Glenn T. Burke

Publication number: 20110161112Abstract: Provided is a method of documenting a medical procedure including receiving medical data captured during the medical procedure to be documented. Information indicative of an identity of at least one of a patient that is a subject of the medical procedure and a physician involved with the medical procedure is received. The medical data is stored in a non-transitory computer readable medium associated with the at least one of the patient and the physician. Access to the medical data stored on the computer readable medium is restricted, allowing the physician involved with the medical procedure to subsequently retrieve the medical data stored in the computer readable medium and view the medical data retrieved. Restricting access to the recorded medical data prevents another physician, who may not have been involved in the medical procedure, from viewing the medical data without first entering information indicative of authorization to view the medical data.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 29, 2010Publication date: June 30, 2011Applicant: CODONICS, INC.Inventors: Gary Keefe, Richard M. Edwards, Alan J. Gilbert, Christopher M. Tainer, Aaron A. Bauman, Jeffrey L. Spencer, Ross Goodman, Garvin Seto, Stephen N. Mucher, Gary W. Enos, Michael Langan

Publication number: 20050283287Abstract: A method and system for dynamically selecting and retrieving real-time data from a time/space partitioned flight computer system located on board an aircraft. The system used to implement this method consists of an on-board memory read-out device attached to a serial data bus capable of communicating with the flight computer and/or a ground-based memory read-out device capable of communicating with the flight computer via radio telemetry. This data consists of any valid memory location within the flight computer, including but not limited to flight data, aircraft status, and flight computer state.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 2, 2004Publication date: December 22, 2005Inventors: Aaron Bauman, Alexander Geiger, Matthew Greenfelder, Eduardo Sy
