  • Patent number: 12674991
Abstract: Temple arms of augmented-reality glasses are disclosed. An example temple arm includes a curved temple arm housing configured to couple to a frame of a pair of augmented-reality glasses. The curved temple arm housing has a head shaped curvature to contour a portion of the user's head. The curved temple arm housing includes a set of electronic components coupled within the head shaped curvature of the curved temple arm housing and an input device configure to control one or more electronic components positioned within the frame of the pair of AR glasses. The set of electronics including a speaker, a front battery cell and a rear battery cell. The speaker is positioned adjacent to a user's ear and between the front battery cell and the rear battery cell.

  • Patent number: 12547008
Abstract: A head-mounted device may include a frame having an inner peripheral edge defined within a peripheral region of the frame, a temple extending from the peripheral region of the frame, and a hinge assembly coupling the temple to the frame. The head-mounted device may include a wiper gasket that is configured to engage a peripheral surface of a stationary section of the hinge assembly and extend around the inner peripheral edge of the frame to seal against ingress of water and dust. The stationary section may be coupled to the frame via one or more internal mounts such that force applied on the frame is transferred to the internal mounts, thereby minimizing forces experienced by the wiper gasket.

  • Patent number: 11906747
Abstract: The disclosed head-mounted device may include a frame, a temple, at least one cable communicatively coupled to the temple and the frame, and a hinge assembly coupling the temple to the frame. The hinge assembly may include (1) a stationary member coupled to the frame, (2) a rotary member coupled to the temple and rotatable with respect to the stationary member about a rotational axis, (3) a wiring passage defined within the stationary member and the rotary member, the wiring passage surrounding and extending along the rotational axis and configured to accommodate at least one cable passing therethrough, and (4) a biasing member positioned to apply a biasing force to hold the rotary member in one of a plurality of selected orientations relative to the stationary member. Various other devices, assemblies, systems, and methods are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 11340463
Abstract: An artificial-reality device is provided. The artificial-reality device includes a frame having at least one temple section (e.g., a frame arm) and a front section, where the front section is configured to hold at least one lens. The artificial-reality device also includes a hinge pivotally coupling the at least one temple section and the front section. The hinge includes: (A) a front magnetic component that includes a static magnet, and (B) a rear magnetic component, coupled to the at least one temple section, that includes: (i) two or more primary magnets oriented so as to be attracted to the static magnet of the front magnetic component, and (ii) at least one secondary magnet, positioned between the two or more primary magnets, oriented so as to be repelled by the static magnet of the front magnetic component.

  • Patent number: 11340476
Abstract: A hinge assembly for an electronic device. The hinge assembly includes a first component coupled to a second component by a cam. The cam includes a cylinder coupled to the first component and a bottom cap coupled to the second component by a fastener. The cylinder includes a first port and a second port, where an energy waveguide passes from the first component into the first port and through the second port into the second component. The first component rotates about an axis of rotation in relation to the second component from a first rotational position to a second rotational position. The first component is offset relative to the second component in the second rotational position. The offset includes a translation along an axis parallel to an axis of rotation and a rotation about the axis of rotation.

  • Patent number: 10659869
Abstract: The disclosed computer-implemented method may include an apparatus having a support structure of a wearable device and a transducer coupled to the support structure. The transducer may be configured to generate movements in response to an audio input signal. The apparatus may also have a movement-conducting element coupled to the transducer. The movement-conducting element may be configured to apply the generated movements to a top portion of a user's ear. The movement-conducting element may maintain contact with the top portion of the user's ear so that the generated movements are consistently conducted to the user's ear regardless of which portion of the movement-conducting element contacts the top portion of the user's ear. Various other methods, systems, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.
