  • Patent number: 8521135
Abstract: System and method for delivering messages to devices not in communication with a transmitting server. One or more wireless devices serve as host devices to relay a message from the server to the target device that is not in communication with the server. The server sends the message to host devices when they are in communication with the server. The host device or devices store the message to be relayed to the target device. When the host device is close to the target device, it establishes a short range wireless link with the target device and transmits the message to the target device. In an example, the messages sent to and stored by the host device are encrypted so they are not able to be read by a user of the host device.
