  • Publication number: 20180197677
Abstract: Embodiments generally relate to linear variable displacement transformer (LVDT) position sensors. The position sensor comprises a bobbin, a moveable core, a primary coil of wire wound around the bobbin, and two secondary coils of wire wound around the bobbin about the primary coil using a fractional winding technique. For example, the winding length of the bobbin may be separated into three consecutive parts. Generally, the primary coil may be wound around the entire winding length of the bobbin. The first secondary coil may be wound around the first and second parts of the winding length. The second secondary coil may be wound around the second and third parts of the winding length. Additionally, the first secondary coil and the second secondary coil may overlap over the second part of the winding length.

  • Publication number: 20180143038
Abstract: Embodiments relate generally to an LVDT for use in an actuator to accurately measure the movement and position of the different elements used in stabilization. The LVDT may comprise an amalgamation of a plurality of elements to decrease the total number of elements in the LVDT. For example, the LVDT may comprise a bobbin that is formed to incorporate other elements, such as washers, strain relief elements, etc. Additionally, the enclosure may be enabled to function as the return path for the LVDT. Additionally, the LVDT may comprise elements that provide thermal compensation by relieving stresses imposed on the LVDT. Also, the LVDT may comprise elements that allow for adjusting thermal offset within the LVDT.

  • Patent number: 9952656
Abstract: Disclosed are a method and corresponding apparatus to enable a user of a display system to manipulate holographic objects. Multiple holographic user interface objects capable of being independently manipulated by a user are displayed to the user, overlaid on a real-world view of a 3D physical space in which the user is located. In response to a first user action, the holographic user interface objects are made to appear to be combined into a holographic container object that appears at a first location in the 3D physical space. In response to the first user action or a second user action, the holographic container object is made to appear to relocate to a second location in the 3D physical space. The holographic user interface objects are then made to appear to deploy from the holographic container object when the holographic container object appears to be located at the second location.

  • Publication number: 20180044002
Abstract: A method of forming a balanced rotor blade assembly includes measuring a weight of a plurality of sub-components of the rotor blade assembly excluding a core. A configuration of a core of the rotor blade assembly is determined. In combination, the core and the plurality of sub-components achieve a target weight distribution and moment. The core is then fabricated and assembled with the plurality of sub-components to form a rotor blade sub-assembly.

  • Patent number: 9887955
Abstract: Connected gateway servers relay an electronic message from a first client device to a second client device by storing the message in respective user message queues associated with the sender and/or recipient of the message and then sending the message along a sequence of gateway servers to a gateway server that hosts the second client device. Upon receiving the electronic message at a first gateway server, a second gateway server that is hosting the second client device is identified and a sequence of gateway servers starting at the first gateway server and ending at the second gateway server is determined. Each gateway server in the sequence relays the message to the following gateway server in the sequence while maintaining user message queues. Failure of the last gateway server in the sequence results in the penultimate gateway server in the sequence assuming the responsibility of hosting the second client device.

  • Patent number: 9584456
Abstract: A server includes volatile and non-volatile memories for storing messages received from a client device. A message reception module of the server stores a message received from a first client device in the volatile memory for an extended time period based on an indicator included in the message. The message reception module deletes the message from the volatile memory based on detection of a triggering event or stores the message in the non-volatile memory based on not detecting the triggering event before the extended time period has expired. The triggering event may include the message having been read by all specified recipients of the message. The indicator may be included in the message based on a relationship of the message to other messages. The message including the indicator may be related to other messages as part of a same conversation that has been determined to be suitable for short-term storage.
