  • Publication number: 20190166823
Abstract: A method and a system provide an animal trap that records digital images of animals with a camera, convolves the digital image with a kernel to create convolved feature maps that are used as input to a classifier algorithm, producing classification confidence scores that identify the animals. An algorithm categorizes the classified animal and selects an action based on the categorization. The trap has actions to deter the benign or beneficial animals and actions to detain or kill the pest animals. With this method and system, the trap is able to target pest animals with minimal harm to benign or beneficial animals.

  • Publication number: 20100163313
Abstract: A drill bit bearing having a treated surface and method for preparing the same is provided. The method includes the steps of polishing at least one contacting surface of the bearing with an abrasive paste to a finish of less than about 10 ?in Ra. The surface of the polishing instrument has a coating that includes a mixture of an epoxy cement and a polymer.

  • Publication number: 20070081747
Abstract: An earth boring bit has thrust faces with one of the thrust faces being at least partially tilted relative to the other. The bit has a cone rotatably mounted to a bearing pin of the bit body. The thrust faces are in the cone and on an end of the bearing pin. One of the thrust faces is completely flat and perpendicular to the axis of the bearing pin. The other thrust face has a tilted portion that is at a skewed angle relative to the axis. The tilted portion creates converging and diverging zones between the thrust faces.

  • Publication number: 20070045008
Abstract: A seal assembly for an earth boring bit uses a magnet to provide a desired contact force. The seal is located between a rotating cone and a stationary bearing pin of the drill bit. The seal has a non rotating metal face that is in sliding engagement with a seal face in the cone that rotates with the cone. The non rotating seal face is provided by a carrier ring that encircles the bearing pin. A magnet is mounted to the carrier ring to provide an attraction force maintaining the carrier ring in contact with the rotating seal face in the cone. An elastomeric seal ring seals between the carrier ring and the bearing pin to prevent rotation of the carrier ring.

  • Publication number: 20050183888
Abstract: An earth boring bit has rotating cones with two lubricant passages to increase bearing capacity and cause lubricant circulation. A lubricant reservoir in the body supplies lubricant to passages between the cone and bearing pin. A pressure compensator equalizes lubricant pressure to the exterior of the bit. A first passage leads from the reservoir to the upper side of the bearing pin. A second passage leads from the reservoir to the bearing pin at a point from 185 degrees to 225 degrees as seen from an inner end of the bearing pin. This point is located in a diverging region 51d of an annular clearance surrounding the bearing pin.
