  • Patent number: 8833861
Abstract: A machine includes a frame and a dump body. An electronic controller is operably connected to the machine. At least one accelerometer is disposed to measure an acceleration of the frame and/or the dump body, and to provide an acceleration signal to the electronic controller. The electronic controller is disposed to receive and analyze the acceleration signal and provide a loading signal indicative of a severe loading condition to a remote control station and/or a loading machine performing the loading.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 3, 2010
Date of Patent: September 16, 2014
    Assignee: Caterpillar Inc.

  • Patent number: 7946787
Abstract: A paving system includes a machine having a frame with a plurality of ground-engaging elements coupled with the frame, and a height adjustable screed coupled with the frame. The paving system may also include a paving control system having a receiver configured to receive screed control data indicative of a position of the height adjustable screed relative to a reference position. The paving control system may further include a computer readable memory storing a control algorithm, which may include a smoothness estimating algorithm and a screed adjusting algorithm. An electronic control unit is coupled with the computer readable memory and is configured via the control algorithm to determine a smoothness value for a region of a mat of material which corresponds with an irregular pattern of screed position, in response to screed control data received via the receiver.

  • Publication number: 20070203812
Abstract: A component registration system for a machine is disclosed. The component registration system has a component located on the machine, a data system remote from the machine, and a controller in communication with the component and the data system. The controller is configured to automatically collect information from the component upon installation of the component onto the machine and automatically send the information to the data system to initiate a registration process.

  • Publication number: 20070142940
Abstract: A method for gathering user-selected parameters in a work machine environment includes receiving a set of parameters associated with a work machine controller and providing the received set of parameters to a user interface. The user interface may be configured to allow a user to select one or more parameters from among the received set of parameters. The method may also include receiving operation data based on the one or more parameters selected by the user, wherein the operation data reflects an aspect associated with an operation of the work machine.
