  • Publication number: 20160290258
Abstract: An engine may comprise at least one cylinder having a combustion chamber disposed therein, a piston positioned for displacement within the cylinder, and at least one air intake port configured to allow an intake of air into the combustion chamber. The engine may further comprise a fuel injector configured to inject a fuel diluted with an inert substance into the combustion chamber for combustion with the air. The combustion with the air may occur at a lower temperature than a combustion of the fuel with the air when the fuel is undiluted.

  • Patent number: 9435285
Abstract: A control system for an engine including a fuel delivery system and an ignition source is provided. The control system includes a detector, a processor, and at least one actuator. The detector is configured to sense a signal to change from a compression ignited fuel to a spark ignited fuel. The processor is configured to receive the signal from the detector and generate an actuation signal. The actuator is configured to receive the actuation signal, vary an operating speed of the engine, and selectively control at least one of the fuel delivery system and the ignition source.

  • Patent number: 9309810
Abstract: A system for converting gaseous fuel into liquid fuel is provided. The system may have a combustor configured to receive a supply of gaseous fuel. The system may also have a gas compressor configured to direct gaseous fuel from the supply into the combustor. The system may also have an air compressor configured to direct compressed air into the combustor, and a turbine in fluid communication with an outlet of the combustor. The turbine may be connected to drive the gas compressor and the air compressor. The system may also have at least one heat exchanger in fluid communication with an outlet of the gas compressor and an outlet of the air compressor. The system may also have at least one expander in fluid communication with an outlet of the at least one heat exchanger. The system may also have a condenser in fluid communication with an outlet of the at least one expander.

  • Patent number: 9097208
Abstract: A system for converting liquid fuel into gaseous fuel is provided. The system may have a supply of liquid fuel. The system may also have a combustor, and one or more pumps in fluid communication with the supply. The one or more pumps may be configured to pump liquid fuel from the supply into the combustor. The system may also have a compressor in fluid communication with an inlet of the combustor, and a turbine in fluid communication with an outlet of the combustor. The turbine may be connected to drive the compressor and the one or more pumps. The system may also have a heat exchanger in fluid communication with an outlet of the turbine and an outlet of the one or more pumps.

  • Publication number: 20140156169
Abstract: A control system for fuel delivery systems associated with cylinders of a multi-cylinder engine is provided. The control system includes a detector, a processor, and an actuator. The detector is configured to sense a signal to change from a compression ignited fuel to a spark ignited fuel in a pre-determined number of cylinders. The processor is configured to receive the signal from the detector and generate one or more actuation signals. The controller is configured to receive the actuation signals and tandemly control the fuel delivery systems associated with the pre-determined cylinders based on the actuation signals.
