Abstract: A handle grip assembly includes a connector housing configured to connect to a support post, an upper housing mounted stationary to the connector housing, and a lower housing and handle grip extending between the connector and the upper housing. The lower housing is freely rotatable relative to the upper housing.

Abstract: An expansion mechanism for use with a piece of luggage, the expansion mechanism being designed to resiliently support, but not rigidly lock, a piece of expandable luggage in an extended position. The expansion mechanism allows for float at intermediate positions between a collapsed and extended position further preventing damage to the mechanism by allowing it to internally shift to compensate for shocks, and to allow the mechanism to continue to function even if it is bent or damaged. The expansion mechanism also allows for moveable parts of the mechanism and pinch points to be protected from interaction with the contents of the luggage.

Abstract: A towing handle system for wheeled baggage includes first and second support posts, and a towing handle positionable between an upright position parallel to the support posts and a towing position at an angle with respect to the support posts. The towing handle includes a locking latch mechanism comprising an angle position element extending between the first and second posts, and the an angle position element has a ribbed outer surface. A locking element includes an inner surface received over the outer surface of the angle position element, and the inner surface lockingly engages the angle position element in a first orientation corresponding to the upright position and lockingly engages the angle position element in a second orientation defining the towing position.

Abstract: A towing member and towable luggage where the handle can be stored in the luggage in a retracted position where the principal dimension of the grip portion of the handle is arranged to be generally perpendicular to the wheel rotation axis and parallel to the top face of the piece of luggage. The handle preferably still allows two degrees of rotation in the extended position. The towing arm may be constructed by having at least three axes of rotation about which it can rotate, two of the axes generally being parallel.

Abstract: A weight determining mechanism and a method for determining the weight of a piece of loaded luggage, particularly a backpack. The mechanism is generally incorporated into a carry handle of the piece of luggage allowing for it to be integral with the luggage and allowing for it to not take up additional space while allowing for quick and easy weight determinations without need for an external scale.
