  • Patent number: 12687202
Abstract: A constant velocity joint includes an outer race that extends about an axis and is configured to be coupled with a first shaft. The outer race extends axially between a top surface and a bottom surface. An inner race is located in the compartment and is pivotable relative to the outer race for being connected with a second shaft. A plurality of balls are positioned between the outer and inner races for guiding the pivoting movement outer and inner races while transmitting rotational movement between the outer an inner races. An upper can is coupled to the top surface of the outer race for sealing the compartment of the outer race. A plurality of bolt holes extend axially through the outer race radially outwardly of the upper can.

  • Patent number: 12510124
Abstract: A constant velocity joint includes a first shaft extending along an axis and rotatable about the axis. An outer race is connected to and rotatable with the first shaft. The outer race defines a compartment. A rotatable second shaft terminates at an inner race in the compartment. The inner race is rotatable with the outer race and is pivotably connected to the outer race such that the inner race and second shaft are pivotable relative to the outer race. A boot comprised of a flexible material has an upper region connected to the outer race and a lower region connected to the second shaft. A can overlies the boot and includes a shaping region for maintaining a shape of the boot along at least a portion of the boot as the boot expands. The can and boot permit the joint to be fully sealed with optimized performance.

  • Publication number: 20050162001
Abstract: The present invention involves a detachable half shaft assembly of a vehicle wheel end and has a shaft bell and a disc rotor. The detachable half shaft comprises a preloaded bearing assembly and a detachable body receiving the preloaded bearing assembly. The preloaded bearing assembly has an inner surface formed through inboard and outboard ends thereof. The detachable body has an inboard interface at an inboard end and an outboard interface at an outboard end. The inboard interface is configured for connecting to the shaft bell and the outboard is configured or connecting to the disc rotor. The detachable body has a bearing receiving portion defined by the stepped boss and a roll formed base. The bearing receiving portion radially receives the inner surface of the preloaded bearing assembly.
