  • Publication number: 20240058134
Abstract: The techniques described herein relate to a tibial prosthesis for a knee arthroplasty optionally including a baseplate and a tibial keel. The baseplate optionally including: a distal surface sized and shaped to substantially cover a proximal resected surface of a tibia; a proximal surface opposite the distal surface, the proximal surface having a lateral compartment and a medial compartment opposite the lateral compartment; a periphery extending between the distal surface and the proximal surface; a first layer of porous material forming at least a majority of the distal surface and extending to the periphery; and a second layer of non-porous or relatively less porous material having a plurality of reference features extending through the first layer, wherein the plurality of reference features form at least a portion of the distal surface; and a tibial keel extending distally from the distal surface to define a longitudinal tibial keel axis.

  • Patent number: 9011455
Abstract: Methods and devices for sculpting bones, particularly in preparation for implanting prosthetic devices to replace articulating bone joint surfaces. Improved bone removal devices including burr mills driven by gears and loop drives are provided. Reciprocating cutters and belt cutters are also provided. Some devices have either integral or removable expandable portions to vary the force and bone resection depth. Devices can have irrigation ports and plenums to remove bone fragments. Some cutters are dual cutters, adapted to remove bone in two or more regions, such as the knee joint, simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 8808300
Abstract: An assembly includes a guide component having (i) a base defining a first passageway, and (ii) a handle attached to the base, the base including a first coupling component. The assembly further includes a first sheath defining a second passageway, the first sheath including a second coupling component configured to cooperate with the first coupling component to couple the first sheath to the base. The first passageway is aligned with the second passageway when the first sheath is coupled to the base. The assembly further includes a stop structure defining a central passage, the stop structure including an external surface having a plurality of keyways defined therein. The first sheath includes a key member configured to be selectively received in any one of the plurality of keyways. The stop structure is fixed in relation to the first sheath when the key member is positioned in any one of the plurality of keyways.

  • Patent number: 7670341
Abstract: A bone fixation assembly includes a side plate for mounting on a bone and a barrel for receiving a portion of a lag screw, and configured to be inserted into a hole in the side plate. A mechanical spring located at the upper portion of the barrel biases a first detent portion toward a locking position with a second detent portion located on the side plate such that rotation of the barrel within the hole from a first position to a second position causes a compressing portion on the detent portion to contact a compressing portion on the second detent portion thereby compressing the mechanical spring so as to allow the barrel to be rotated to a third position wherein the mechanical spring is allowed to bias the first detent portion into the locking position such that a retaining portion of the first detent is adjacent to a retaining portion of the second detent and rotation of the barrel with respect to the side plate is restricted.
