Publication number: 20250010083Abstract: A method for managing alerts from a wearable cardioverter defibrillator (WCD) using a communication device is disclosed. The method includes receiving a plurality of alerts to notify a user and/or a patient of a plurality of conditions related to the patient from the WCD, transmitting a first input to cause the WCD to enter a silent mode to silence an alert of the plurality of alerts, and determining that the plurality of conditions have been resolved during the silent mode. The method further includes transmitting, in response to the determining, a second input from the communication device to replay a portion of the alert of the plurality of alerts and replaying, in response to the transmitting, the portion of the alert and an indication that at least one condition of the plurality of conditions have been resolved.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 13, 2024Publication date: January 9, 2025Applicant: WEST AFFUM HOLDINGS DACInventors: Zoie R. Engman, Amanda K. Hall, Laura M. Gustavson, Aaron J. Piazza

Patent number: 12115378Abstract: In one embodiment, a wearable cardioverter defibrillator (WCD) is described. The WCD includes a support structure worn by a patient. A processor is coupled to the support structure. The WCD also includes a discharge circuit coupled to an energy storage module, the discharge circuit configured to discharge the stored electrical charge through a body of the patient. The wearable cardioverter defibrillator also includes a user interface housing at least one sensor and responsive to changes in device orientation. The processor is configured to detect a motion at the user interface and determine when the motion is patient-activated. When the motion is patient-activated, the processor determines a direction of rotation. The processor determines an orientation of a display at the user interface based on the direction of rotation and orients the display at the user interface to appear upright to the patient.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 2022Date of Patent: October 15, 2024Assignee: WEST AFFUM HOLDINGS DACInventors: Zoie R. Engman, Aaron J. Piazza, Erick M. Roane
