  • Patent number: 8875512
Abstract: A distribution pipeline power plant, comprising: an input, configured to receive a fluid that has been heated using energy derived from a geothermal field; an expander, configured to extract energy from the fluid that has been heated using energy derived from a geothermal field; and an output configured to transfer at least some of the energy extracted from the fluid that has been heated using energy derived from a geothermal field to a circulator to drive a further fluid along a distribution pipeline.

  • Patent number: 8542125
Abstract: A system is provided for verifying the performance of an electrical union. The electrical union provides electrical connectivity across an interface between first and second elements which rotate relative to each other. The system includes a signal source associated with the first element. The signal source is adapted to send an electrical signal over the union to the second element using a first signal frequency. The system further includes a frequency modulator associated with the second element. The frequency modulator is adapted to return the electrical signal over the union to the first element using a different second signal frequency. The system further includes a comparator which compares the signal sent by the data source to the signal returned by the frequency modulator. The comparator provides an output which identifies whether a discrepancy exists between the contents of the sent and returned signals.

  • Patent number: 8522524
Abstract: A compressor is provided for pressurizing carbon dioxide produced by a carbon dioxide production plant and introducing the pressurized carbon dioxide to a carbon dioxide sequestration system. The compressor has a measuring system which determines the amount of carbon dioxide produced by the production plant. It also has a control system which varies the power of the compressor depending on the determined amount of produced carbon dioxide.

  • Publication number: 20130057214
Abstract: An energy store charging system is provided for an electric vehicle for use typically in premises having a mains electrical supply. The system includes a load sensor arranged to determine the total concurrent electrical loads on the same mains electrical supply circuit and a charging circuit connected to said mains supply for delivering power to the energy store. A controller is arranged to limit the power drawn by the charging circuit in dependence upon a comparison between the total concurrent electrical load and a maximum threshold power supply deliverable via the incoming mains electrical supply line.

  • Publication number: 20110174401
Abstract: A compressor is provided for pressurising carbon dioxide produced by a carbon dioxide production plant and introducing the pressurised carbon dioxide to a carbon dioxide sequestration system. The compressor has a measuring system which determines the amount of carbon dioxide produced by the production plant. It also has a control system which varies the power of the compressor depending on the determined amount of produced carbon dioxide.
